@henry88g – agreed – that lowercase change allowed me to return to my original permalink settings and my site is now functional.

All – changing to lowercase and returning permalink to its post settings has fixed the problem, in line with what several others have reported.

Thanks Adrian K for the above information – I am a very new member using WordPress and the permalink change did fix the problem for my localhost installation. I will be watching closely for further posts.
