Hi @alexgff,
Noted! Understanding now your need, wouldn’t it be better to allow you to filter query arguments? (can’t tell now how the multi-lingual plugin you use works, but I guess it might make us of some custom postmeta field?).
Or if you mean to use the filter to run your own query, wouldn’t it be even better to add a filter at the beginning of the function to allow you to short-circuit it so our query is not run at all, saving resources?
We have already added the filter you requested at the end of the function, but, again, just trying to better understand your need to try to provide a better and more flexible solution.
Hi @alexgff,
could you please explain the need behind your request? I mean, we do understand what you are asking for and I guess there is no reason for us not to add it, but we would like to know why you need to filter returned posts. Maybe it is something other users might find useful. And maybe it can be achieved by adding some option.
Cheers!
Hi @matthieulllrc,
we have been able to address all the issues you reported and the fixes will be included in the next plugin update (4.2.0):
1) As you very well pointed out, users without a role were ignored, that’s why post count was wrong. By default, the plugin takes ‘administrator’, ‘editor’, ‘contributor’ and ‘author’ roles as the ones an author might have. The Pro version allows you to select which user roles you want the plugin to consider, been able to select even custom user roles and the “without_role” role. As user roles selection option is not available in the lite version of the plugin, you can make use of the available
authorship/user/rolesfilter, returning an array of user roles that includes themolongui_no_rolerole.2) We haven’t been able to reproduce this issue, but we have applied some changes that hopefully will address it. Please feel free to reopen this ticket if this isn’t fixed.
3) We will include this one in our roadmap.
4) Done.
*) We have already fixed the issue regarding post count not getting updated after trashing a post.
Thank you so much for reporting all this and providing such helpful information about how to identify the issues!
I’m closing the ticket now. If after updating to version 4.2.0 (when available in a few days) something is still wrong, feel free to re-open this ticket and we will look into it.
Hi there,
Opinions are subjective but facts are not. We are very sorry that you have such a bad opinion of our plugin, but what you say is not true:
1) You are not required to edit anything. From what you said in one of your emails, you are talking about bylines here. We provide template tags for those advanced users or theme/plugin developers that want to implement them in their designs/work. But they are just optional. You don’t need to use them at all. Maybe you had some issue with bylines not showing author name properly so you thought you needed to use them. Issues with bylines might happen because each theme operates differently. Not all of them follow WordPress standards and others operate with custom loops, for instance.
2) You requested a refund saying that the plugin was not working but without even explaining what was wrong. You never asked us for help or asked how anything worked.
3) The two things you said were not working are both features from the free version of the plugin. Nothing to do with the Pro version. So what we tried to say was: “Man, how did you go Pro if free version wasn’t already working for you? That doesn’t make any sense”.
As we have repeatedly offered you, we are here to help, and we would like you to give us the option to explain how the plugin works and to help you. It is unfortunate to see uninformed opinions.
We really hope that you contact us to help you and thus be able to change your opinion, joining the feelings of the majority of our users, who have a totally favorable opinion, both in relation to the operation of the plugin and our customer service.
Best,
Molongui TeamHi @divano,
we have already told you by email, but just to let other people reading this know, we have fixed the issue about the schema error. The fix will be included in the upcoming update 4.2.0.
In that update a compatibility function to keep bylines styling when using Publisher theme will be also included.
Thanks so much for reporting these issues!
Hi @nd62,
it was us making some tests taking a look at the other issue you reported earlier. Everything is back to normal now.
Hi @nd62,
we have found that it is your child theme the one preventing our plugin from saving all author information into database. That’s why author avatar and link are wrong. You can check that out by switching themes to a WP default theme. Then go to edit the post, change author(s) and save. (Pre)View the post from the frontend (using either your child theme or the WP default) and you will get the correct author information: name, avatar and link.
So you need to look into your child theme and find out what is preventing post data to be saved.
Hi @nd62,
we have already discussed this by email, so I’m closing this ticket. Just to let other users reading this know, the issue reported involved custom code from a child theme. It wasn’t a plugin bug.
Hi @nd62,
the author box at the top is being displayed because it “belongs” to the page you are inserting/injecting into the post template.
We have added a compatibility function to prevent the author box to be added to that injected content when using the Publisher theme. It will be available in version 4.2.0.
For those facing the same issue when injecting content into another page (using the Publisher theme), there is a workaround you can take: edit the page being injected and configure it to not display the author box (Authorship Box > Display > Hide).
Thanks for reporting the issue!
Hi @nd62,
Yes, you can use the
[molongui_author_list]shortcode to display a list of (some/all) authors in your site anywhere you want. That author list can be customized making use of the optional attributes this shortcode can take. One of those attributes (type) allows you to tell the shortcode which author type to list: all, only guests or only users. Please, take a look at this support article that explains how to use the
[molongui_author_list]shortcode.When installing Molongui Authorship Pro, a new page named “Contributors” is added. That page makes use of this shortcode to display a list of all the authors in your site who have contributed with, at least, one content. You can edit the shortcode in there to customize the list to your liking.
Great!
Thank YOU for reporting the issue!
Hi @paulychilds,
we have released another update (4.1.2). Could you please update and let us know if the issue is now fixed please?
Hi @paulychilds,
on the link you provided before I see the warning on the same line, number 26. Have you cleared all caches after the plugin update? If you didn’t, please do and check again.
Hi @paulychilds,
thanks for reporting the issue! We’ve released an update that fixes it.
Hi @nd62,
for that you can test drive the Pro version setting up a free demo site here. Only you’ll have access to your demo, so you’ll be free to do/test whatever you want.
If you need to install a theme or plugin, let us know and we will install it for you. And if it is a Premium theme/plugin, just provide us the installer and we will install it for you too.
