Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Untitled posts? What could go wrong?1. Tish! You spoke French!
2.I think I may be willing to forego the SEO value here as a tradeoff for a more fluid, fast-moving site. This is a hobby site; it is not (yet?) revenue-generating.
3. This is a good point and something I need to look into. I do post full text rather than excerpts. Thanks.
4. I think users understand titleless posts, after years of Twitter and Facebook and such. Also, there are a few die-hards still doing linkblogs on the free and open web, and they use untitled posts — See for example Scripting.com http://scripting.com/ and Instapundit https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/.
4a. Untitled posts do, OTOH, make RSS readers barf. And I think the mail notifications that WordPress sends to subscribers put awful pseudorandom digits in place of the title.
Also, I’m thinking of web-based linkblogging ever does come back — perhaps as a result of disillusionment with the big social platforms — it will look different than it did in the pre-Twitter/Facebook era.
I do thank you for helping me think this through and I welcome other contributions to this thread.

In reply to: [Postie] Unable to connectThanks for the tips, Wayne. But I’ve found a workaround to my problem that doesn’t require me to use Postie.

In reply to: [Postie] Unable to connectHi, Wayne! Yes, I do have IMAP enabled in Gmail settings. Thanks!
Thanks! Do we have an estimated release date on V4?
Thanks, Jeremy!
Tisha, I use Auto-Post Scheduler and SNAP together quite smoothly, with posts scheduled from PENDING, without having to modify auto-post scheduler.

In reply to: [Auto Post Scheduler] APS just started running seven hours behind.Never mind. That was the problem. RSS Digest conflict. Sorry to have bothered you.
Now I know, which is helpful. Thanks!
These instructions don’t seem to work anymore. Here’s what I see when I go to the WordPress app settings on Google+.

Nothing there about visibility.
How can I solve this problem?

In reply to: How to eliminate these annoying icons from the home pageThat fixed it!
To be more precise: Configuring a main menu deleted those annoying little icons. Problem: It also deleted the page links from my home page — “About Mitch Wagner,” “Contact,” etc.
But I fixed that problem easily. I just included the page links in the main menu.
And now I have the links I want on the home page and am rid of those obnoxious icons.
Thanks!

In reply to: How to eliminate these annoying icons from the home pageThanks, Steve! I have no menus associated with either option.

When I click the “Edit Menu” links, nothing happens. I am not taken to another page, no popup — nothing.

In reply to: [Auto Post Scheduler] Am I misunderstanding how "Restart on Publish" works?Yes, it does show “Post published outside of APS – Auto Post Scheduler restarted” ?
On second thought, I withdraw my feature request. I like the behavior just the way it is. If I publish many posts manually close to each other, I can just disable and re-enable APS manually to give my subscribers a breather.
Thanks for clearing up my confusion and for making a great plug-in!
