Hi there,
Thank you for contacting us.
Elementor content is stored separately from the default WordPress editor content. Because of that, pages created or imported with Elementor often appear blank inside the standard WordPress backend editor, except for the page title. The actual page structure, sections, widgets, and styling are stored as Elementor data in the database and are meant to be edited through the Elementor editor itself.
This is why you can see the full content correctly when clicking “Edit with Elementor”, while the normal WordPress editor remains empty.
The frontend request to regenerate CSS & Data after import is also expected behavior. Regenerating CSS rebuilds Elementor’s generated styling files and helps synchronize imported templates and layouts. Since your frontend displays correctly afterward, that confirms the import itself completed successfully.
The steps you already tried, including regenerating CSS & Data, re-saving permalinks, publishing pages again, and setting Elementor as the editor, are all correct troubleshooting steps. Based on your description, the site is functioning as expected.
Regarding your expectation about seeing the content inside the normal backend editor, Elementor does not automatically convert imported layouts into native WordPress blocks or editor content. The editable structure is retained within Elementor only. This means the default WordPress editor will not display the Elementor sections unless the page was originally created using Gutenberg blocks or the Classic Editor instead of Elementor.
In short, if:
- the frontend displays correctly,
- the Elementor editor loads all sections and widgets properly,
- and the pages can still be edited with Elementor,
then the imported demo content is working normally.
For future editing, we recommend managing these imported pages directly through “Edit with Elementor” rather than through the default WordPress editor.

Hi there,
Thank you fo contacting us.
Yes, Editors can work with Elementor content, but creating and managing templates depends on the permissions assigned to that role.Editor is a trusted role. It gives people the ability to upload and manage all posts and pages on a site.
This guide explains how Elementor Role Manager works and how you can configure permissions safely:

Hi Bernd,
Thanks for sharing the log.
The messages are PHP deprecation warnings coming from the WP Mail Bank plugin rather than Elementor itself. This usually means the plugin is not fully compatible with the PHP version currently running on the server.
Since your hosting provider recently switched the site to PHP 8.5, that is very likely related. PHP 8.5. I would recommend switching back to PHP 8.2 or 8.3 and then testing the issue again.
Increasing the memory limit to 512M was a good step, so we can probably rule memory out at this point.
I would also recommend updating WP Mail Bank to the latest available version, or temporarily disabling it to see whether the issue disappears.

In reply to: [Elementor Website Builder - more than just a page builder] JS errorHi,
Thank you for your detailed response and for taking the time to clarify everything so thoroughly.
First, I want to sincerely apologize for the overall experience you’ve had here. I completely understand how frustrating this situation must have been, especially given the delay in our reply and how the previous response came across.
I’m also sorry for the confusion regarding Elementor One. I understand why that assumption felt incorrect and frustrating in your case, particularly since you clearly mentioned this was happening on a clean WordPress installation using Elementor Free. Thank you for pointing that out and clarifying it again.
Additionally, I want to apologize for the time it took to respond. Receiving a reply after several weeks that doesn’t fully address the original report is understandably disappointing, and I’m sorry for that experience.
I really appreciate you taking the time not only to report the issue, but also to investigate it on your side and share your findings. The details you provided about the
$pointerfatal JS error, along with the workaround you applied across multiple sites, are very valuable even if the issue is no longer affecting you directly.I’ve shared your report and findings with our senior team so they can take a closer and more detailed look at this behavior, particularly the Elementor One notice and how it interacts with the admin area. Your input helps us better understand potential edge cases that may affect other users as well.
I’m also truly sorry to hear that this experience has left you feeling discouraged from reporting issues in the future. That’s definitely not the experience we aim to provide, and your feedback here is important for us to improve both our response time and the way we handle similar cases.
Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and for the effort you put into documenting and resolving it.
Kind regards,

Hi,
Thank you for the detailed explanation, and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this issue.
We checked the browser developer console on the affected page and could confirm that the site is currently returning a Server Error 500. Combined with the Elementor editor loading as a blank screen, this indicates that the issue is happening at the server/PHP level rather than being caused directly by Elementor itself.
Since the problem remains even when Elementor and the other plugins are deactivated, the most likely causes are a PHP fatal error, corrupted theme or WordPress files, server configuration limits, or another server-side issue triggered during the last save process.
The best next step would be to enable WordPress debug logging so the actual error can be identified. Please add the following lines to your
wp-config.phpfile, just before the “That’s all, stop editing” line:define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true);
define(‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true);
define(‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, false); After that, please try opening the site or Elementor editor again and then check the file located at
/wp-content/debug.log. This should contain the exact fatal error responsible for the 500 response. We also recommend temporarily switching to a default WordPress theme such as Twenty Twenty-Four.
Additionally, please verify with your hosting provider that the server is running a supported PHP version, preferably PHP 8.1 or 8.2, with at least 512M PHP memory limit available. Since this is a server-side 500 error, the hosting provider should also be able to identify the exact cause from the Apache/PHP server logs.
Hope thsi will help
