In reply to: XHTML 1.1 vs 1.o Strict/TransitionalXHTML 1.1 should probably be avoided until a browser that can handle it is the market leader. IE, which still (unfortunately) holds a great deal of market share completely barfs if you are truely XHTML 1.1 compliant (sending the proper headers as application/xhtml+xml iirc).

In reply to: Thumbnails under PHP5The proper libraries were probably not compiled into PHP. Talk to your server admin about recompiling with the necessary GD or ImageMagick libraries.

In reply to: Slow site response time89 queries is a damn lot for WordPress to be using. What plugins are you running? There is really no reason to be firing off 89 queries per request.

In reply to: WP-Medic, a Troubleshooting ToolMatt has asked in the past that we not pull checkouts down directly on requests, so I’m going to keep a local cache of md5sums and of files for the diff. Server load and bandwidth are the least of my worries.

In reply to: Working with other browsersThe part that’s off is actually the iframe not a scrollable div. My recommendation is to have a look at WordPress plugins for shoutboxes, like http://blog.jalenack.com/ajax/

In reply to: WP-Medic, a Troubleshooting ToolThe plan for the final release is to have the latest checksums be fetched from my server so that its always up to date. mod_security is something we won’t recommend (partly because it screws over WP-Medic to begin with). File permissions checking is planned, I don’t know about setting database passwords though, that’d involve including a dictionary or something to check passwords against.

In reply to: WP-Medic, a Troubleshooting ToolWe’ll have it try to detect its location automatically and adjust accordingly in the next version, so it can go in the main directory or the plugins directory no hitch.

In reply to: XML-RPCWordPress doesn’t use the PEAR XML-RPC library so you’re fine. An unrelated vunerability came out at the same time for WordPress, which is fixed in 1.5.1.3. Another unrelated vunerability was fixed in 1.5.2, so its best to be on the latest version.

In reply to: NEW: Upgrade to 1.5.2ionic, Dougal is correct. The hackers list all covers this, Matt said on the hackers list that the problem was fixed immediately after it was reported and the only people that would have the old package were people who may have been on IRC at the time. Now, if you have any more silly accusations, take them to the hackers list. The date of a subversion commit is nothing more than the time that it was committed.

In reply to: NEW: Upgrade to 1.5.2ionic, this was already fixed in 1.5.2, I suggest you go download the packages before you start throwing up secirty advisories on the public forums and creating FUD in unknowing users.
