Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: blog handicapedWhat web site?
What is the URL?
Is it really a blog?
Did it have a comment form and did you leave a comment? (sounds like you did)So many question and without a few answers from you it’s hard to help.
Keep in mind the blog you commented at (if it is a blog) is owned by someone. And they have the option to allow the display of your comment, or delete it.
It is also the Holiday season and many people are away on vacation etc, etc.
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Detailed statistics like on WP.comTry StatCounter.
And there is a plugin for it, a search should turn it up, it was just posted as new a few days ago.
Even so, without the plugin it is very easy to install. Just a bit of code for your footer.php file.
Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Forums and WordPressI don’t think I want to use bbPress, it seems too bare
It can be “bare” or as elaborate as you like. The appearance is managed using a CSS style sheet.
You could also have a look at Vanilla, it is PHP, MySQL based and is about to launch a new version (beta now) that includes themes just as WordPress does.

In reply to: Theme goofed up after WP2.0 upgrade, help please?Check the political compass image, either delete it or make it smaller and see if the problem corrects it self.
Usually when a sidebar drops to the bottem it’s because of content in the sidebar or the text section is too large.

In reply to: RSS FeedsAs podz noted you need to provide a link to your blog. Some themes but not many delete the feed links. Or they may be in a position that is not readily apparent. In any case a link would help a lot.
However if you view the source code of your index page in your browser you should have the urls to your feeds in the head section. Copy those and place the links where you desire in your theme template.

In reply to: How to d/l these themes ?- “eris design”You don’t download them. Note the phrase at the top of the page, “Eris’ Template Generator.”
Select the design you want and then fill all the correct data into the boxes below including the selection for WordPress. After you’re done entering data at the bottom you will see “Just click this button to get your personalized layout:”
It will then generate the theme files that you copy into your theme folder.
You will also have to copy any image files that may be needed for the style you select.

In reply to: how to desactivate RSSBut you didn’t answer my original question. Why disable RSS? After all if not used it does no harm other than take up the slighest space as a link.
There is a great many people that use RSS via a aggragator vice a browser to surf through the Blogosphere.
As I said just curious.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: how to desactivate RSSJust curious, why would you want to disable the RSS?
And wouldn’t it be simpler to just remove the links on the index page and the “Href’s” for RSS feeds in the header so they won’t be auto discovered?

In reply to: MySQL databaseHave you tried to run the WP install script? It has to be run so WP can install all the tables WP uses within the database.

In reply to: Technorati Problems…Are you sure the code you have in the sidebar provides an image? If I recall correctly they have different versions, some with no img, and some with a choice of a few images.
As an aside, you really need to dump that background. It completely overwhelms the clean simple design of the Pool Theme. To be honest it’s digustingly gaudy.
You also need to upgrade from WP Ver 1.5.1.3, it has some series security holes in it. 2.0 will be out sometime on 26 Dec, PLEASE upgrade at minimum to Ver 1.5.2.
