In reply to: WordPress main page doesn’t look rightTake a look at this image file. I suspect that what you’ve done is ftp the image files in ASCII mode instead of BINARY mode which has corrupted the files. This is why the text based files such as the PHP files are fine and why you’re having the same problems with images for other themes.
You don’t need to reinstall WP. Just upload the image files again and be sure to set the transfer mode to either AUTO and if that doesn’t work, BINARY.

In reply to: WordPress main page doesn’t look rightReupload the image files located in /wp-content/themes/default/images/
There appears to have been a problem with your earlier FTP upload.

You’ll have to get into contact with Podz as these files were produced and maintained by him.

In reply to: When will documentation be included?“What a dissappointment, to find that an application who’ primary function is to create textual information, doesn’t come with documentation for installation that is readable, until *after* it is installed. What a joke (oversight?).”
Technically, WP primary function is the input and output of information to a browser; hence, as a browser is a necessary prequisite (for use and installation) as well as the target, having the readme in a browser viewable format is entirely appropriate.
That said, I’m aware that I’ve probably been trolled by the OP; nonetheless it’s an amusing aside.

In reply to: Looking for a development team to extend multi-user Word Press.“We are interested in creating an online blog service to rival many of the great free and paid services on the net.
Our main development team is busy on software that affects our core business… Right now we are also considering drupal and commercial solutions.”
Since this is appears to be a commercial venture and as you already have a team of developers, would it not be prudent to disclose the wage range that you’ll be paying?

In reply to: Is the www. best used for the domain name.Search engines treat two url’s with different sub-domains as two different site (and quite rightly). Therefore, it’s not the lack of a www that is a penalty but the fact that links to the www address not transferring PR to the non-www address (and vice versa).
Hence, it’s a good idea to choose one form and stick by it. Whether a www. subdomain is used or not is not important (though there are some that advocate going the non-www route for idealistic reasons). Just choose whatever form you feel is better for you in your circumstance. You don’t want to split PR between two identical sites.
Also, remember PR in and of itself is *NOT* useful. It is only useful because it’s a factor in search rankings, nothing more.
BTW, not using WWW has not definitely hurt the PR of WordPress.org; instead, by not splitting PR, WP features extremely well.

In reply to: Google AdSense“Is there a reason why it doesn’t show up on my blog? I wondered if something is blocking it because I don’t see adsense on anyone else’s blogs either.”
The ads are present at the top of your blog. I suspect that you have some ad-blocker installed on your machine (adblock?). The fact that you also don’t see ads on other people’s site fully supports this.

In reply to: portfolio of german interface designerVery nice design and an interesting use of WP; in fact, at first glance, you can’t even tell that it is using WP.
The colour choices are clean and the overall look & feel projects the right impression befitting your line of work. That said, I’m not the biggest fan of ‘position:fixed’ though that’s purely an aesthetic decision.
Good job!

In reply to: pirate text filter is overriding my settings?I mean, look at your blog, all posts, not just the one from the 20th, are being piratized.
That’s intentional behaviour.
will it go back to normal after the 19th?
It will and it has. I suspect that the date/time settings on your server were offset which would account for the “lag”.
