  • As much as I enjoy reading these perspectives, which can allow for me to gauge the mentality of others within these forums (being that I recently signed up to this forum). The fact of this matter is that regardless of my suggestion being on point or you believing that it is not; it’s a mere comment pertaining to assist in the topic of the listing. Not spam, not giving bad advice, it’s just a comment/question. Did it lead him/her the wrong direction? No.

Therefore, why should I be wasting my time having to defend why the comment was made the way it was? If a resolution was found, it would have been great to see “resolved” rather than having to have another “assumption” for whether it is being solved or not. If it doesn’t help the user, they can choose to ignore it, or potentially respond to it.

As this Forum states… (posted here.)

“These forums exist to support WordPress users.”

    and

“You have bad days so does everyone else – one post that you disagree with does not make the other person bad and neither does it make them a target to be got at. And please remember that this is only software, not something essential to life itself. Getting the last word in is not being constructive either.”

So its just best to move on guys, and utilize all this extra time and effort into other topics awaiting support, rather than projecting energy on a simple comment. Enjoy your weekend.

Don’t see anything stating that this issue is resolved, right?

Therefore, the phrase “may” is used as a potential clause that the theme he MAY be referring too could be deactivated. The assumption of you believing the current theme is what he was referring too holds same weight as my thought that the theme he may be referring too is potentially deactivated; because I did not see the phrase, nor was there a closure to this listing.

Instead of critiquing a general response by a “volunteer” who is trying to help out of his OWN time, maybe the critiquing could be placed on the person putting this question into the forum.

We can only guess what the questioning person is in need of, if a minimum amount of information and current status is available. Thank you for your opinion, nevertheless, just trying to help and gauge further information of the issue to help a fellow WP user out.

At this point, the theme that you may be referring too, is not active. There is nothing publishing that phrase.

“Twenty Eleven” theme shows active at this time.

Keep in mind, Flash is not fully compatible with all browsers. Could be a reasoning for why your Flash Slideshow is not showing. (iPad, iPhone, etc.)

    Good luck on your website.

If there is not a WordPress database, nor do you locate the files in the file manager. You might as well speak with your hosting company and see if they have a backup of your account that could potential restore to the latest copy they may have with WordPress on it.

The way I understood this part of your paragraph:

Also, the website altogether has vanished and has reverted to what it used to look like two years ago before I updated it.

I perceived the revert was to an “older” WordPress website. That is why I was referring to locating/changing the information that I suggested.

I might have assumed too much that the concept of using “changeURpass” would refer to actually changing your password when they successfully logged in. The Password would not have worked until they changed it anyway through phpMyAdmin; and upon logging in, it could have been changed.

Nevertheless, I could have been clearer than how I wrote it. My apologies, and I do hope Humanitea, that you do resolve the issue successfully.

If there is an “older” version, that means there is still a WordPress installation. Therefore, by accessing through MySQL and the “users” table, you can change the user login info and credentials so that you can login to the WordPress Dashboard and investigate your problem further.

Paste [ REDACTED ] as the password in the field for the user’s password. So that when you login, you can use [ REDACTED ] as the password.

No worries at all buddy! Glad things worked out for you.

    Awesome buddy! Glad to help.

Your good buddy! Everything is now up and live as you wanted.

Just got it, I replied and will look into it now.

Personally, I would suggest to replace the WordPress comment coding with Facebook Comments. I try to offer this to every client I do a website for. Spam gets a hold of the proper URL for your site, comments can easily be sent left and right.

Facebook Comments allows a tremendous exposure to your blog when comments are made, and you are still able to moderate via Facebook App.

    See here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/comments/

For the specific topic in hand:

Some more basic things to check:

    1) Disable ALL your plugins and try it.
    2) Check SPAM folder.
    3) Check your theme’s functions.php file to see if anything redefines the functions: wp_mail() or wp_notify_postauthor().
    4) Are you getting other notifications and not just comments? Try setting up a fake user to see if you receive that notification. If not, maybe you need to speak with your hosting company.

Personally, I have not worked with WAMP and not sure buddy if things would be of the same concepts. Personally, when I’m working on new websites, I have always created within a sub-directory, then moved WP upon completion.
