WordPress comment emails…

    just stopped, after I deleted a few hundred spam comments. All going well since last oct, then 5 days ago, all comments stopped coming to my email.

    Is there any live person who knows about this sutff that can talk me through what I need to know to moderate my blog simply?

    Personally, I would suggest to replace the WordPress comment coding with Facebook Comments. I try to offer this to every client I do a website for. Spam gets a hold of the proper URL for your site, comments can easily be sent left and right.

    Facebook Comments allows a tremendous exposure to your blog when comments are made, and you are still able to moderate via Facebook App.

    For the specific topic in hand:

    Some more basic things to check:

    1) Disable ALL your plugins and try it.
    2) Check SPAM folder.
    3) Check your theme’s functions.php file to see if anything redefines the functions: wp_mail() or wp_notify_postauthor().
    4) Are you getting other notifications and not just comments? Try setting up a fake user to see if you receive that notification. If not, maybe you need to speak with your hosting company.
