In reply to: font color button missingThanks Lisa. I use Elementor on another site, not on this one, so that isn’t the culprit here. And I don’t use any other page builders. It may be an updated plugin since I did just go through updating a bunch of them. Rather than turning them off en-masse with the health check plugin, I think I might try turning off plugins one by one (especially if I can recall which ones I updated). In either case, do I need to log out and back in to see if that resolves the problem, or can I stay logged in after turning off a plug in?
Also, I mentioned earlier that I am loathe to update my twenty twelve theme because, if I recollect correctly, when I tried that once before, it significantly altered the layout/look. Is that something that should normally happen? Or am I better off updating the theme?
Thanks and happy new year!

In reply to: font color button missingHi Lisa,
I don’t think so. That’d be something like Elementor, right? (I use that on my website, but not on the blog.)
I definitely didn’t install any today, though I did update several plugins.
Thanks,

In reply to: [Getty Images] didn’t work at all – and stopped media from working, tooA plugin conflict is certainly possibly. I’ve also wondered if something just went wrong in the install and a reinstall might work. But since I was able to do the embed manually, I’m hesitant to go back and try mucking with the installation again.

In reply to: [Getty Images] didn’t work at all – and stopped media from working, tooHi. According to my Dashboard/Updates, the WP version is up to date. There is a note about “if you need to reinstall version 5.0.2 you can do so here.” I am using the classic editor.
I’m not sure how to answer the subscription question. I downloaded the plugin directly through WP, activated it, and then attempted to click “Getty” at the top of post editor next to “Media.” Does that help/make sense? Thanks Boaz. I was hoping there was a way to do it within the text editor in the widget or by highlighting the text itself and selecting a size in the popup box, same as you can do with bolding or italicizing, etc. I’m not terribly comfortable with working in the code itself. With this one, for instance, I’m not sure what to do with/where to place the code they suggest. (I knew how to do that kind of thing years ago in pre-CSS manual coding, but not in current coding.)
So I’m still having problems with getting images in a gallery to link to other pages. Layout questions aside – will hold on those for a moment – I thought I had this working using the plugin WP Gallery Custom Links. And it seemed fine, but now when I try to edit the gallery, I get an error message “Sorry, the content area was not found in your page.” This didn’t happen at first. I’m not sure why it started.
The page is http://davidbergmaneco.com/architecture/
When I deactivate the plugin, the error disappears but, of course, the images no longer link to those pages.
I have all other plugins deactivated.
Does anyone know how to achieve my goal here? It seems there is no way within Elementor to create those links, even though it can done in a “regular” gallery without Elementor. Is that correct?
Is there a way perhaps to do this by adding custom code, presumably by editing the code in WordPress? I’m not fond of messing with code – I’m not that confidant – but would try it if that’s the only option.
Here’s an example of what I am looking to do (not a page of mine):
http://nathaliemiebach.com/portfolio.htmlThanks
(ps – should I start this as a new thread since it’s now a couple of weeks old?)
Hi LesTexas60. Sorry for any confusion. I’ve now deleted all but the gallery, so that may help clarify. And, unrelated, I think, the links are now working. No idea why. The only thing I did was re-enter the URLs for the links in the images in the Media library. (I’ve only set 2 of them so far. More maybe working when you read this.) But the problem couldn’t have been the links themselves because I wasn’t even getting the “hand” symbol before.
My goal is to have each image link open another page. And the reason I didn’t want to use columns with individual images is that that wasn’t formatting well when viewed on a phone.
I do have 2 remaining issues as well as a question that perhaps you have pointers about:
1. Though I have borders set to none (in the gallery style settings), the image borders remain. Curiously, it sometimes doesn’t show borders when I’m in the edit page, but does show borders in the uploaded page.
2. How can I get the columns to space more closely together? I want the images to be closer together, not spread over the section width. I’ve tried (1) playing with Column Width when editing in layout via the edit button accessed at upper center of the gallery. I’ve tried setting it to blank or to any number. There is no difference visible in the edit window and the number doesn’t stick in the box by column width. I also tried (2) editing the Columns Gap accessed via the edit tab after clicking the upper center 3 dots. (And a related, probably dumb, question: what is the difference between the edit pages accessed via those two methods?)
3. And a more minor question. Is there a way to have the captions flow into two lines so they fit within the width of the image? Would just be visually better.
Thanks!

In reply to: [WP Gallery Custom Links] links not working in ElementorIt seems to be working now, though I’m not sure why as I didn’t change anything other than re-entering the URLs.

In reply to: [RPS Image Gallery] Captions not appearingThanks. I rebuilt the slide without RPS a few days ago, so I’ll have to reconstruct in order to show you. I’m slammed for the next days, but will get back to you shortly.

In reply to: [RPS Image Gallery] Captions not appearingFYI, I deactivated RPS to see what happened. I then created a gallery without RPS and the captions worked fine. But the links on the existing page gallery dropped out and as far as I can tell, there isn’t a way in the standard WordPress Gallery to have links to pages/posts.
(I don’t recall ], but that may have been the reason I originally installed RPS.)
So the question remains: why (when using RPS) do the captions not appear in a new page? And secondarily, does anyone know how to create gallery links without RPS?
Thanks

In reply to: Captions in gallery photos not appearingSo I deactivated RPS. The captions DO appear now, but on the existing page – the Wrongest Products – the links from the images to URLs in my site dropped out and, as far as I can tell, I don’t see a way when I go into edit to put links in. (In RPS, they were called something like Gallery Links.) That may have been why I installed RPS in the first place.
Am I just not seeing where to add the link?
Thanks.

In reply to: Captions in gallery photos not appearingThanks Andrew & Michael.
Yeah, I wondered about deactivating RPS, but it worked fine on the “Wrongest Product” gallery. And also, would deactivating the plug in affect that existing page?
And, yes, I’ll also try posting on the RPS forum. I’d looked for that and not found it. Thank you for the link.

In reply to: Captions in gallery photos not appearingThanks Andrew. I’ve uploaded a temporary version of the page at http://ecooptimism.com/?page_id=5008. The first two images should have captions.
