In reply to: wp-mail.php error messageHi again, Moshu.
I assure you I did my homework before I posted, just as and in the manner you have suggested. I would not have posted my query if there had been an answer available. Clearly I should have spelled out my research attempts in my original request for help.
Now, can anyone enlighten me as to the meaning of the following error message, returned when accessing wp-mail.php:
Ooops POP3 connect: Error [536870912] []
Thanks.

In reply to: wp-mail.php error messageSorry, moshu, I don’t think I understand. Before I posted I searched for the particular error that got thrown up in my case –Error [536870912] — and found nothing. Are you saying that all errors are the same in some way?

In reply to: Edit own comments? Thanks for responding, MichaelH. In answer to your question, when I log in at the 10th level I do see the little “e” beside everyone’s comments. But shouldn’t I, at level 9, be able to see an “e” for 8’s and below, etc.? What I’d really like, of course, is for people to be able to edit their own comments.

In reply to: Location of the title on a “page”Just one more thought, though: the method of creating a new page template works just fine; the only thing is that I’m going to have to multiply the page templates a lot. What I really would like is the ability to cause a new input box to arise in the Write / Pages screen — e.g. an empty <div></div>. As it is, I have to hard code my menu into my template (to get it above the page title) and need a different template for each nuance, let alone each different menu.
I wish I knew (some, any) PHP, because I suspect that it wouldn’t be all that hard to create.
Anyhow, thanks again for the useful help.

In reply to: Location of the title on a “page”Many thanks. I guess I’d been avoiding getting into page templates without quite realizing it. Your patience is appreciated, believe me.

In reply to: Character ProblemsThanks, moshu. That’s somewhat encouraging. I presume I could try it and then revert back if I find it too weird. Am I right?

In reply to: Location of the title on a “page”Thanks, Kafkaequi. I’m using a turn on the Kubrick theme. Thing is, I want the title to be in a different location only on some pages, but not on others. Any way to deal with this?

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Character ProblemsI have a variation on this problem, which goes like this: I’m using an inline frame on one of my pages, taking a page from a site that generates data and only offers it this way. Trouble is, I’m getting funny characters (though only in Firefox and Safari, but not in Mac IE) in the framed material.
Seems the author of the other page is using a different character set — charset=iso-8859-1, probably, because it shows that way on the frameset pages.
Is there any way I can harmonize things? If I change my WP settings to iso-8859-1, will things explode? will I lose functionality?
Thanks for any help.

Sorry to keep bumping, but wow you sink fast here…
Does no one have a clue about why my password retrieve function can’t “see” that a user is registered? I could use help here.
thanks.

In reply to: “lost password” function not workingThanks, podz. I can log in okay, so I’ll save your tut for another day when I really screw up.
No, this is a problem with WP: the lost password retrieve function simply doesn’t recognize registered users. Anyone have an idea why?
