Post titles in RSS comment feeds

  • I’d like to be able to put the title of the post in the RSS feed of the comments on the post — otherwise it can be quite confusing to get a comment without any context at all.

    I’ve tried to use the plugin aimed at doing this, but one site gave me a 404 and another gave me a zip file that wouldn’t open.

    (I’m on a Mac – 10.4+)

    My WP version is

    I’ve read the Codex and have found the article on customizing feeds. There it says:

    The following code should be put in wp_commentsrss2.php, just after the beginning of the comment loop:

    /* First, grab the title of the entry on
    which the comment was posted */
    $title = get_the_title($comment->comment_post_ID);

    /* Now sanitize the formatting for RSS */
    $title = apply_filters(‘the_title’, $title);
    $title = apply_filters(‘the_title_rss’, $title);
    <title><?php comment_author_rss() ?> on <?php echo $title ?></title>

    However… I’m not certain exactly where this code should be inserted.

    Can anyone give me precise enough instructions (or pointers to a plugin that will do what I need)? I’m not a php coder.
