In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] Old archives are not deletedHi @mkj2, are you using 3.4.1? We made sure that this functionality works properly. Is your archive name formatted with the proper prefix?
@aardvarkgirl, the most likely culprit seems to be either max_allowed_packet or wait_timeout in MySQL. Could you ask your host to increase these variables and see if that helps? There’s nothing you can do within BackWPup itself.
Hi @mkj2, in order to see exactly why it might be happening, I’d need to see a full debug log including this error.
You can generate a debug log as follows:
- Go to BackWPup > Settings > Logs and set Logging Level to Debug (not translated).
- Run the job again.
- Download the log file from Logs, and attach that in an email to support [at] backwpup.com.
I need the file itself because it contains metadata that is useful in debugging such errors.
@chetan200891 or @snowbird12, could you generate a debug log and send it to support [at] backwpup.com? You can enable debug logging by going to BackWPup > Settings > Logs, and setting Logging Level to Debug (not translated). Then run the job again and send the resulting log.
We’ve seen a few instances of this error, but for various reasons. Yours looks to be from something we have not seen yet.

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] FTP password is reveleadHi @jlsv1986, can you confirm you are actually seeing the plaintext password? Because all that should be passed to the form is the encrypted password.
Hi @micwp123, can you ask your host whether there are any CPU limitations for running scripts? That seems to be what the issue is.
Hi @jasminderpalsingh, unfortunately the link you provide gives a patch for PHP itself. As a plugin made in PHP, we’re unable to control the PHP install of any user. You are free to ask your host to apply that patch though, and it should solve any problems you’re having with BackWPup in regards to FTP.
I hope this makes sense. Let me know if you have additional questions.
Hi @flamey, I worked around the caching issues by moving hosts. I’m now hosted on DreamPress and use their caching system, and everything seems to work fine for me.
But indeed it should probably be more friendly with caching plugins.
Hi @micwp123, can you try enabling the
Reduce Server Loadsetting under BackWPup > Settings > Jobs? Let me know if that works for you.Forum: Plugins

@guilamu, are you still having this issue? Please let us know if so, or else mark the topic as resolved.

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] Dropbox Error, Version 3.4.1Hi @sterndata, would you be willing to give us access to investigate this further? A few users have reported this but we are as yet unsure why the error is occurring.
If so, please email support [at] backwpup.com. We’d need a user with the BackWPup Admin role, and also FTP access.
Hi @iriad, you need to set the
Maximum Script Execution Timesetting to about 25 seconds, under BackWPup > Settings > Jobs.As far as the Dropbox issue, are you getting any errors in the log?
