Sorry, Tom. I had just got off a very frustrating phone call with the government and was in an ill-tempered mood when I wrote the post.
In the normal process of creating a slider I just add all the photos from my pictures/albums/family for example. It’s easier than trying to go through them one by one before creating the slider. With maybe a hundred photos it’s then easier to just edit the album, adding captions and deleting duplicates or ones I don’t want as I go. In this particular case I had added all the captions only to have the very last photo be a duplicate so I deleted it and, yes, all my captions were gone. Yes, I agree about adding a warning prompt to save changes.
Have you made any progress on a pause/play function? I so want to use this plug-in everywhere on my demo site but I need this function so they don’t all start playing at once.
I read somewhere (can’t find it now) about adding some code to the functions.php file to add pause/play to the sliders. It broke my theme and I was lucky to have a back-up.
I want to use the sliders in the sidebars and the body but I need to be able to “click to play” to be able to have the slider follow the text.
I am more than happy to go Pro is this feature is at all possible.

In reply to: Custom post types not showing on category archive pagesI’ve spent hours and hours on this and can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. My category page – http://www.garycjones.ca/?page_id=2304 comes up perfectly but when I click to see the full post all I get is a blank page. I have made the changes to single.php to call up the single-(category).php file and have created a category.(category).php template and reviewed all of the code, but can’t solve this issue.
Appreciate any help.

In reply to: [List category posts] Can't get any of the parameters to workAs Eiad stated above, none of the added parameters work. For me only the “catlist ID=X” pulled up unformatted post titles.
Although this would have worked well for me if it worked, I have changed the site to use Posts In Pages which is working well.

I am using the Content Aware Sidebars plug-in which allows me to have pages with a left-hand sidebar, a right-hand sidebar, side by side sidebars, both or none. The issue is that this plug-in only works with pages and not categories; therefore, if I have a “page” based on a category there is no way to customize the sidebars.
If this List Category Posts would work as billed it would solve this problem for me and, no doubt, many others.

Yes, it does recognize the catlist=4 but no other parameters.

Other works such as images, photoshop and javascript files that don’t interact with WordPress directly are under a different license, which adheres to WordPress conditions. They currently have over 450 themes which have been downloaded over two million times. Are you suggesting they are not “reputable”, as this is a serious accusation?

The issues keep piling up.
I don’t want the sliders after the first one to “auto play” until the first one has finished; however, I do want them to start playing when clicked on. There doesn’t seem to be any way to do this. The only thing I found was to include the “arrows” for previous and next, but this means manually advancing the slides. Even the arrows don’t show up properly.
Any solution?

Yet another issue – when you are viewing the slider it keeps moving the page up and down on the transitions.
Wow! For some reason things are really bad now.
I created a new slider, called RENO – Exterior and went to add my slides. Although I could add single slides, when I tried to add multiple slides in a row, as soon as I held down the [shift] key I was looking at the Renovation pages and the Meta Slider menu was in red. When I clicked back on the slider menu none of the pictures were there. It didn’t happen every time, but enough to be annoying.
As you suggested I saved the Slider then reloaded the page, then started moving the slides into order. No sooner did I have them in order and saved the slider then they were all back in the order I added them and not the sort order.
Frustrating to lose all that work every time.
