  • Here’s a plug-in you can download to remove the search box:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/hide-admin-bar-search/

The grey bar looks good on my site. BUT, it more or less mimics some of features already there.

Ex: The new admin bar has search engine, but right below it I already have Google Custom search bar.

Does anyone know whether the admin bar search engine is an improvement over old WordPress search engine, or is it same?

The official ones are nice, though I’m not certain that I personally can distinguish the difference between those and the other ones you mention.

I’d probably only use the counter option on share icons that I believed would get some increments (twitter, facebook, reddit, digg, etc). My blog is at a point where I don’t get heavy commenting activity, but I have a google plugin that shows me that my pages do get tweeted a great deal. And I know from reddit, that my posts routinely gets tons of reddit votes.

It would be cool for letting my readers see that the site isn’t as quiet as it sometimes appears. 🙂

    Thanks again.

After much work, I finally resolved the problem. I posted the solution here for all others who run into this problem.

No one on this site or at Google could seem to help resolve it, so I hope this helps.

    Best.

This php option seems to work, so I guess I’ll stick with it:

    <form action=”<?php bloginfo(‘url’); ?>/search” id=”cse-search-box”>

I had to just reinstall the old crappy wordpress search engine back. There’s such messed up behavior with the non-home pages that I just can’t have the site sitting around like that.

This damned Google Custom Search engine is the buggiest and crappiest little feature I’ve experienced yet. No one at their own site support will field a single question about it.

I’ve gone ahead and uploaded my theme files up to my live site, so if anyone wants to see how my Google Custom Search field works on home page, but doesn’t on all other pages it’s there to try: alterpolitics dot com

It’s really quiet around here lately. I hope someone can help me.

By the way, I’m dying to get some help on my troubleshooting question regarding google custom search if someone could help me. Here’s my post asking for help: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/google-custom-search-in-wordpress-1?replies=1

I’ve done it creating a page from the dashboard (like you) without the search.php in my theme and my custom search works perfect when I search from my home page.

However, when I search from a category page, for some reason I get a 404 Error – file not found every time. Even when I know the search parameters I’m tying to query are in fact tags that should be found.

Have you tested to see if your search box is working on the pages outside your home page? Just curious.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Peter. 3.2.0.1 fixed it.

    Thanks Pat.

By the way, I love your widget — one of the best available to WordPress sites.

    Thanks again.

    ksluijs,
I tried what you recommended above and this is what worked for me:

To fix the double login problem, I just deleted the Login page from my list of pages, and DIDN’T even replace it. That fixed the double login form, double login titles completely.

The plug-in now seems to generate its own Log In page.

Also, for those of you who want better control over the links visible, if you go into the settings of the Theme My Login plug-in there’s a feature for redirects, as well as a feature to control the links you can see.

There’s also a feature to control the email messages. It would be cool if the developer could explain better the email feature, so we don’t have to use trial and error to figure out what those emails options are all about.

    Hope this helps.

Same here. Double login form after upgrade to 4.4.

Hopefully, there will be a fix soon.

Here’s some error messages I’m getting in my error log:
