  • Totally agree, there is not yet enough documentation out there.
In the Advanced > Additional CSS Class you can add a name, that identifies your particular styling, for instance “silver”.

Then under the “Customizer” you see a section called “Additional CSS”. It allows you to add CSS that works for all your pages and posts and blocks, using the name you entered as Additional CSS class. (‘silver’)

For the image you would add figure.silver {border:1px solid silver} and publish it.

For any subsequent image you only need to add the same class name under “Advanced” and it will automatically add the border to the image.

This methods keeps your posts/pages clean of additional coding and you have a single place where you can change it if you now decide to have a dotted line or a 2px line around particular images.

Does that make sense to you? Did it work?

Using a Content Management System like WordPress is different from just creating a HTML site offline and just upload the assets. WordPress Media Library needs all images uploaded through its interface to be able to offer the image to the content creator.

Depending how many picture there are you could also use this plugin “Save and Import from URL”

You could drag and drop a lot of picture from your desktop folder to the media library and let WordPress take care of the rest while importing all the files. It’s very powerful.

Seems quite a few features might be covered by WordPress’ plugin called BuddyPress. . It definitely gets you started and provides you with the overall permissions and groups settings, to be able to manage who can do what on your site.

It’s hard to judge without at least have a look at a page where you actually use the quote. I would connect with the Theme developer to provide more flexibility for Gutenberg.

Considering that WordPress 5.0.x was downloaded over 17 million times, I am surprised that the Classic Editor only has 2 million. I would think that number will rise in the next couple of months.

In our agency we only have a few sites with WordPress 5.0 in production without the the Classic Editor. The ratio is 4 on Gutenberg vs. 40 on Classic Editor. There are various reasons why people don’t want to deal with the new block editor yet. Only one client is absolutely against using Gutenberg. He is also the one who doesn’t want to switch to a responsive theme. Most clients deal with incompatible plugins, training time or staffing. The ratio will swing in favor of the new block editor in Q 2 of 2019 for our group.

The options to remove the filter for the featured image is actually available via Customize > Colors
Check or uncheck “Apply a filter to featured images using the primary color”

Hmm, seems you discovered a bug? Would you mind providing us a bit more information about your browser and of what exactly you are trying to do.

When I change the publication date from Dec 17, 2018 to Dec 17, 2017 it sticks.

Did you make sure there wasn’t a plugin compatibility?

That’s an interesting puzzle. I understand that this can be puzzling, though. Haha. Couldn’t resist.
To troubleshoot this, I would see of you can have the client switch to a different browser: Google Chrome or Firefox, and see if the problem persists. It might also be some browser extensions installed that could interfere with the Javascript scripts. So you might want to disable those temporarily, until you are able to narrow it down some more.

Does that help you in any way?

Hi there, Power-user! I too have found some performance issues when dealing with larger posts. And I have good news for you. The performance totally increased with Gutenberg 4.7, which will come to your Dashboard next week in form of 5.0.2 update.
If you’d like to test it and already take advantage of it, use the Gutenberg plugin in it’s latest version 4.7.

Don’t forget to mark the issue solve, if it really takes care of your issue.

That’s a great tip! Thank you for sharing!! Definitely gives Theme developers a head start on the customization and styling of the default Columns Block in Gutenberg. 💕

You are right the Gutenberg Gallery block does not support any lightbox behavior. But it seems there is also something else going on, which feels a lot like a plugin conflict.
You could install the Classic Editor and use that for your old (= pre Gutenberg) content editing.

There are a few dozen Custom blocks plugins available in the repository, who push further on the photo gallery. I think it would be worth to try out some of them and see if they do a decent job for your new galleries.

In an ideal world Themes shouldn’t provide you with additional functionality, that normally would belong into a plugin. So in the long run you might need to research for a Gutenberg compatible theme.

I know there is a lot of ifs and maybes, if you just want to get your work done, stick with the Classic Editor for a while, until your theme developer can catch up with WordPress 5.0. There wasn’t really a lot of time available to get this done earlier.

You might need to connect with the plugin developers at aherf to troubleshoot this.

This might actually not be Gutenberg related.

But to help you we need a little more context. How are you creating the custom menu? Via Dashboard > Customize > Menu? or some other way?

“WordPress is asking me to pay $300 to upgrade to Business to be able to install a plugin that will disable Gutenberg.”

You might need to look closer who is scamming you. WordPress certainly is not. It’s free open-source software.

Are you able to install plugins? The plugin “Classic Editor” is a free plugin and you can install it on your site. It’s easily accessible via “Add new plugin”

    Or are you on WordPress.com?

This seems to be plugin territory and a good place might be in the permalink section of the sidebar of the new edit screen.
