In reply to: [JetBackup - Backup, Restore & Migrate] Generates file with its own extensionHello,
As for why we have our own format solution, we will bring you some very important reasons:
1) As you already know, many of WordPress based websites are hosted in shared hostings that have small execution time limit for PHP scripts. We have figured out a way to surpass that issue thanks to our reloading mechanism, and that could not be possible if we didn’t have our own format.
2) Migration procedure is fully automated. Checkout all the other plugins and you’ll notice, that all of them ask you to enter find/replace pairs for migration. This solution surpasses all this steps and makes your life easier when you want to migrate your website without entering anything.
3) The zip format has limitations that we don’t have. For ex. zip file can not be larger than 4GB or have more than 65555 files.
And those aren’t the all reasons, but we think they are good enough to allow us create and use our own custom archive format. Also, I’d like to inform you that our SGBP Extractor is completely free to download and easy to use: https://backup-guard.com/downloads/. (although we believe that manual extraction is not necessary at all).

Lisa Breen

In reply to: [JetBackup - Backup, Restore & Migrate] Didn’t work, no refund.Hello,
We approve almost all refund requests if there’s a ground for that. For your special situation we didn’t have any reference which could help us understand there’s a problem with BackupGuard. We even suggested some troubleshooting steps, but didn’t get feedback from you about your progress. If you can provide any reference where we can make sure there’s an issue with BackupGuard, we’d be more than happy to approve this request. We always try hard to see our customers satisfied.

In reply to: [JetBackup - Backup, Restore & Migrate] activation BackUG failsHello,
This is database-related issue, something has been saved incorrectly in your database that’s why neither BackupGuard nor any other plugin can function properly. Could you please set “upload_path” in the wp_options table to empty string or the valid one? This should fix your issue.

Could you please send me your full restore log file?
P.S. I’d recommend to open a support ticket for faster communication: https://backup-guard.com/products/backup-wordpress/support. This is a general public forum where our answers could be delayed.

In reply to: [JetBackup - Backup, Restore & Migrate] Really Like itHello,
Might be you’ve confused something? We’re responsible for backing up your website, but not showcasing any media content (e.g. videos). Or have I misunderstood the question?

In reply to: [JetBackup - Backup, Restore & Migrate] Exercise CautionHello,
What you describe, just impossible! I really believe there are number of users who install/activate/deactivate this plugin everyday. But we’ve not heard or received a feedback from them about such a strange problem since the product has been released!
Anyway, do you have any *.sgbp backup archive downloaded on your local computer? If yes, we can help you to restore everything back as you’ve mentioned you just lost it.

In reply to: [JetBackup - Backup, Restore & Migrate] Unable to Backup (Likely due to size)Hello,
First of all, we’ve not received any WordPress user credentials from you yet and we’ve not even logged in to your dashboard! If you have IP records, you can check who has logged in. If something was wrong there, definitely that wasn’t us. We always share our actions with our customer. Also, we understand the responsibility we should take with your sensitive data. This is a backup solution and the reasons of failures can vary. That’s why sometimes we ask our customer to provide a temporary access for investigations.
Maybe execution timeout exception has happened, but believe me, that cannot make your website down. We don’t perform any dangerous or write actions during backup procedure.

Support Team, BackupGuardHello,
Have you tried to use the login/pass you had during capturing that backup archive? As the database has been reverted back, your old user/pass should work as well.
Anyway, could you please open a support ticket here for this: https://backup-guard.com/products/backup-wordpress/support
