In reply to: call for help. urgent like….WP-Cache would be more effective IMHO. Can’t say if Staticize-Reloaded is upto it as I haven’t used it but I use WP-Cache and it works brilliantly.

In reply to: iG:Syntax Hiliter Pluginhiwa, doing multiple posts won’t help fix the bug faster!!! Commenting on the plugin page was enough, there was no need to send 2 eMails from my website and then posting here as well. You should learn to wait, I’m not sitting all day looking up at my blog or WP-Support forums waiting for bug reports to come in & fixing them instantly!!
Everything takes time, you’ve reported the bug, I thank you for that, now please wait till I release a fix.

In reply to: Make wordpress more than a blog!webscriptz:
So here you got my suggestions:
– an articles system with catagory’s
– a link system also with cat’s
– bbpress build in of minibb build indo you read or look around? Do you know or have used WordPress?? I think that answers to both these questions would be big NOs. *rolleyes*
– You can post in as many categories as you want, so what else do you need in “an articles system with catagory’s”??
– you can have as many links with as many categories as you want, so what else do you need in “a link system also with cat’s”??
– WordPress is a blog, a CMS, not a discussion forum, wiki, or portal!! If you are looking for a blog & forum in one solution, then you might consider looking at solutions that are for that purpose, like Drupal, PHPNuke, PostNuke, etc.

In reply to: wierd behaviour with applying filters@david:
I’ve tried that, no good!! Its the same problem as darkcanuck says. I think that it needs to be said that WP should have conditional filter applications, meaning that if ‘the_excerpt’ or ‘get_the_excerpt’ are applied & if the excerpt is created from ‘the_content’ then any filters on ‘the_content’ should not be applied & only ‘the_excerpt’ or ‘get_the_excerpt’ filters should be applied as ‘the_content’ is not being used as itsself there, its merely acting as a conduit for ‘the_excerpt’/’get_the_excerpt’ to generate an excerpt.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: wierd behaviour with applying filtersthe filter the_content also gets involved *if* there is no excerpt saved in the database
yes, I know that if no excerpt is specified then a part of content is used & displayed as excerpt.
I forgot to add, that’s what’s happenening, as I didn’t save any excerpt, so a part of content is displayed as excerpt. So does that mean that the filter is applied to the_content first & then to the_excerpt, so its doing it twice?

In reply to: Long, dark night of “the loop”…Denis-de-Bernardy:
I lack words to tell you how much I hate MySQL, its pathetic features, and its pathetic performance.
Maybe it does lack some necessary features but there can be no doubt about MySQL’s performance, second only to Oracle(yes, both are better than SQL Server which is quite slow as I’ve seen it & no, I’m not a Microsoft hater, I usually use & love Microsoft products a lot). Here’s a Benchmark done in 2002 & that’s talking about MySQL 4.0.1 & mind you, a lot of webhosts still have MySQL 4.0.x on their servers, not everyone’s got v4.1.x yet!! And in that benchmark, Oracle9i came out as best but it was just slightly better than MySQL which came in second!! So you possibly can’t say that MySQL has poor performance, as I know it, MySQL powers a lot of high-traffic websites which get a lot of traffic, much more than hooopla’s website I think!!If your script doesn’t work good, then you are to try to improve it & then also tweak the way you use the RDBMS for maximum performance!! 🙂
Though its a point that MySQL does lack a lot of necessary features like Triggers, Stored Procedures, etc. that are a must in a good RDBMS but they are in development in v5 of MySQL. Besides we can hope for good products from MySQL despite it being a free database as it does has a commercial side as well, so the devs there are not volunteers but paid employees!!
But the main thing that I noticed is that in LightPress, the developer has optimised the SQL a lot, so maybe WordPress can take a leaf out of its book and instead of putting in new features in next few releases, why not focus more on optimising the software so that it runs better than ever? I certainly would like to see WordPress run better & faster than now, in next releases rather than see any new feature(s)!!

In reply to: iG:Syntax Hiliter PluginYeah, the code on archives & categories pages is not highlighted, I’ve noticed this on my WP1.5 blog too. Rest assured, this will be tackled.

In reply to: Does Kitten’s Spaminator check Trackbacks & Pingbacks?Kitten:
If you get the current version of Spaminator from the plugins repo:
http://dev.wp-plugins.org/browser/spaminator/trunk/and are using a nightly from Jan/05/05 or later, it’ll filter comments, trackbacks and pingbacks.
Guess I’ll have to upgrade sooner then, as I’m still on v1.2

In reply to: CSPAM, Three Strikes have been updated to check trackback spamMark, I never did understand this whole CSPAM project thing completely, I take it as some central blacklist kinda thing. Would appreciate some explanation if you’d be kind enough & you can send them both(the plugin & explanation) to me[at]igeek[dot]info. 🙂
