In reply to: If my website gets hacked……….@furpist, if you keep a backup of your blog then getting it fixed is not such an issue. I remember asking my host, and it was godaddy then, and it said a database restore would cost me $150. I did not had a backup then, they had it, but they would only provide it to me if i pay them…
lesson learnt, host changed… and from now on, frequent backups are a daily routine.
Now to answer your question, yes you are responsible, because the more you wait to get it fixed, your ranking in search engines suffer further, so no point waiting, get it fixed and quickly. And the only way it will happen is by keeping an off line backup yourself.
In general, most hosts do provide free help, and most designers who host the blogs themselves, do fix errors/bugs and hacking of their own themes for free, just make sure to talk to them about it beforehand.

In reply to: WordPress Business SiteYou got a very professional looking blog, a very good logo, totally brandable, a very nice front page which matches your blog theme.
just a quick thing you can improve on, the social media buttons are twice on your blog posts. I suggest you to keep those buttons either on the top or at the end of the posts, not at both places. Also, if you really want to keep it at both places, then “choose” the compact version of the button for the top…
over all, excellent site and blog,
keep it updated,
cheers, about the “read more”, in the “add new post” option under your wordpress admin panel, when you select the html option, you can find a small button, just over the text area, saying “more”. After placing the cursor in the text where you need that “read more”, press that “more” option and it will be done.
@dearmariana, i always like to do it a clean install, and do a fresh start… but anyways, i would suggest to do a new mysql database and import the old database and connect it to the transferred wordpress… see if that works…
else do a fresh install, that should solve the problem… but make sure to first have a backup of your sql on your hard disk, before attempting anything..
cheers,
so, just to be clear, you are trying to move the wordpress sub-directory to a separate domain? you want to keep the oscommerse or whatever it is, where ever it is… and it is working properly? (provided the wordpress is removed… )
so, here is the solution to move the wordpress. Go to your new domain, hopefully you have a webhost for it and it has a cpanel under which you will find fantastico, using which you can install a fresh wordpress without much sweat. Please make sure to delete all files on the other domain’s host before installing a fresh wordpress installation. After that, login to the phpmyadmin of your current wordpress mysql database (sub-directory wordpress) and get the sql file. Export it to your hard disk, import it in the new phpmyadmin of the new host(for the new domain) … and it should be transferred properly…
later on, you can get the themes and plugins from your old sub-directory of wordpress to this new installation…

In reply to: New Artist Website, Any suggestions/comments?@garretbohl, yes that image strategy is good, you will have to upload the higher resolution image separately but you can link it to the lower resolution image that will be displayed,

In reply to: Too linear?@waller93, definitely a better looking theme and the background image is good too… over all, it is better now. Keep adding more content, write bigger articles… and yes, get a good logo or a better header.
cheers, here are a few quick things that i noticed, for both of your blogs,
1) Your homepage scrolls a bit too much, you can put “read more” tags and display a smaller portion of the post on your front page. Your page loading will improve too.
2) For the ads, try the 336 * 280, the bigger rectangle, surrounded by content, just under the title. It looks good and has the best conversion rate.
3) Get a logo, it helps to build a brand out of your blogs.
4) try putting those voting buttons for social media, the static buttons that you have are old style and does not bring enough social attention.
5) For your green blog, try getting a better background image for it. The current image is not exactly sending a green message.
Keep the blogs updated,

In reply to: New Artist Website, Any suggestions/comments?Excellent blog, the theme of the blog goes very well with the pictures and wallpapers that you have. The social media integration is great,
here are a few quick tips:
1) The Images are of higher resolution and they are re-seized on the browser, for example: 1,024px × 768px (scaled to 640px × 480px)
I would suggest you to re-size the images at 640 * 480 off line on your computer before uploading them. That way your page loading will improve quite a lot. You can upload the higher resolution images too, and link them with a download option, below the image.
2) use feedburner and give a few feed sign up options, that way, you will get some regular readers of your blog in time.
over all, it is a great blog,
keep it updated,

In reply to: Too linear?Your blog needs a lot of work, here are a few quick things you can improve on.
1) I would suggest you to go with a different theme, quite a few things of this theme is not looking good, the background image is a bit too loud, the header does not seems good… the sidebar should be on the other side, as you said it yourself, you want to make it look better. Try a magazine theme, that will make your blog look fuller.
2) apart from that, get some more social media attention to your blog, get a twitter profile and a facebook fan page, get some social buttons and setup a feedburner feed signup, etc.
3) Get a good logo, something brandable.
keep it updated,

In reply to: Blazing Truth — My Philosophy Blogan excellent theme, loads fast as well. the logo on the header is good too, very much brandable. Congrats on integrating the social media in the best possible way. the voting buttons and the social links, the fan page and the twitter stream, all looks very good.
just one small suggestion, if you want to make any money out of your adsense ads, put them in the content part of the post, use the larger rectangle and put it just below the title, surrounded by the content. Ads on the sidebar are easily ignored.
over all the blog is great, the content is of very high quality,
keep it updated and fresh,

In reply to: Istanbul Blog – Comments Please@sarkut, I would suggest you a few buttons like – twitter, facebook share, which i prefer over the like but still keep both, and then the stumble upon and linkedin are other options that you can include. Also, the google+ button is the latest thing now,
Try the digg-digg social buttons plugin for wordpress,
cheers,Forum: Your WordPress
In reply to: Istanbul Blog – Comments PleaseYes, the page loading is very slow, perhaps mainly because of the huge header images that are rotated as featured images. If you want to display the featured images on the top at that resolution, then the page loading will surely be slow…
over all, the blog is good, would suggest you to use a bit more social media buttons, perhaps at the end of the article page,
keep it updated,
cheers,Forum: Your WordPress
In reply to: Please have a look at my new blogexcellent theme, looks very good, one of the best color combination i have seen in a very long time. It is eyes friendly too. The content is good, unique and fresh content always helps.
Here are a few quick suggestions:
1) I will suggest you to add some social media buttons, your blog looks good and the content is nice as well, so if you use the social media to promote your blog, it will bring a lot of traffic.
2) use feed subscription options and try making a twitter account and a facebook fan page. that way the social presence of your blog will increase.
Overall, nice blog, keep it updated,

In reply to: XBox, Movies, Tech – Your Views, Your Reviews, Your SiteYour blog looks good, nice header on the top, looks brandable. also, good to see a lot of content, keeping blogs fresh always help.
Just one suggestion, keeping the date structure on the url [link] of the single posts, make the url longer, it also seems less SEO friendly, i would suggest you to just use a permalink structure that only display the article title, in the url. Keeping the url short and sweet helps.
over all, nice blog, keep it updated,
cheers,
