I don’t think it really effect page load times, as my last site was mainly slowed my the amount of images – and current site by using SSL. But BPS supplies a page speed boost code too. I suggest you search their forum as it’s very detailed.
Good Luck!Thought I’d post an update here for anyone else who’s looking for this info. This is the link to the Bullet proof Security forum where the BPS author has provided a very comprehensive explanation of these settings:
http://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/bulletproof-conflict-with-s2member/#post-21727Hi sognista2,
It was all a while ago now, but over a few years our old site regularly crashed and the culprit always seemed to be lots of weird code added to the .htaccess or sometimes even some of the core wp code removed! I’m pretty certain it was BWS (now iThemes Security) as pre-installing a new site I’ve contacted all plugin authors and none of them wrote directly to that file.
The long and the short? BWS had zero support from the author and he certainly didn’t seem interested in any reported problems with it either, as lots of people had issues with it.
After this I was VERY wary of security plugins, researched heaps, and eventually decided to try Bullet Proof Security. I used the free version for about 6 months – absolutely brilliant, with excellent support. Then I bought the pro version – mainly as a way of supporting the plugin author + a few extra features. Overall, it’s a complicated piece of software that does an amazing job and is always well supported. Even when I had messed it up big time and crashed my site, the author went in and fixed it straight away for me, and patiently explained what I should do (or not do!).
It took me a while to work through it all, but that’s because I like to understand things, but it’s actually a very quick install and setup and has heaps of good documentation throughout. Personally I couldn’t rate it highly enough.
You can also search the forum for any known plugin issues and it gives a detailed fix for each.
Hope this helps and good luck 🙂
Well it seems to be working now – but with a totally different fix.
After heaps more reading I put this code (below) into my child theme functions.php file:
/* add in redirect for all logout to PH home page */ add_action('wp_logout',create_function('','wp_redirect(home_url());exit();'));Hope this helps others who are looking for the same solution – as it’s a very commonly asked question on the Wp and s2m forums!
And if anyone sees an obvious mistake in the above, please let me know!
Cheers.

In reply to: [WP Edit] Can't find how to link to AnchorThanks for your link. I’ve recently found some time to research it too and have a couple of other useful articles which explains how to do this within a page, between pages and between sites too…
http://www.echoecho.com/htmllinks08.htm
http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_links.asp
http://help.typepad.com/anchor-tags.html
sometimes I find it clearer to use multiple souces to get it really straight in my head!
Hopefully useful to others too.
Cheers. Thanks Krumch. Sorry, I’ve just realised I posted the wrong link – I’d looked at so many! This is the one I was referring to: http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/redirect-on-logout/.
I think templates are a step too far for me – or is this something I would ask the theme author about?
re. locking the toolbar, I’ve disabled it for all users other than admins already so that shouldn’t be an issue.
Or perhaps Raam – @Raaam or Roger – @scene13 could confirm where the code should/could be placed?
Cheers.
OK, good to know about the Stripe php warnings.
re. BPS, I’ve checked through all the forums there and confirmed that it’s all OK with s2m, especially re. brute force login protection and similar, and the plugin dev is well up on it.
But good to be remineded to check this – thanks.
OK, I think I’ve now found something about it in the FAQ – so it sounds just the thing I need!
Thanks for your help – appreciated. Thanks @kts915 – and you’re sure it’s this page and not just the custom ‘Thank you’ page as mentioned in the pro info page?
Would appreciate any info about this – and I’ve at last tracked down the page it returns you to after payment is made with PayPal standard, but before returning you to your website; it’s the ‘auto-return’ url mentioned in the s2m > PayPal options > PayPal PDT/Auto-return integration, so like this = https://www.mysite.com/?s2member_paypal_return=1
But my question remain – is there a way to customize this? as it looks really off-putting!
Cheers.

In reply to: [Mass Messaging in BuddyPress] Broken in WP4Hi, as i really needed this functionality I thought I’d just test it despite what you’d posted… and it seems to work for me!
I’ve only wanted basic functionality of allowing only admins to send out mass messaging (no emails or anything else) and it seemed to work on my dev site.
However the link in the plugin to ‘stormation’ (I assume relates to the plugin author’s site?) returns a Server not found error.
There has been a ‘fix’ posted a while back (here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/not-working-on-my-site-11 ) but I couldn’t be sure where I had to put this – ideally in a child theme file, but not sure of how to structure this for a plugin edit.
@elbowrobo: Agree with those above, that I’d be happy to donate if this was a) updated and b) kept updated as it’s a really useful addition – and even more so if it integrated with rtmedia to allow attachment of media files too!!
Cheers.
Thanks KTS915 – really useful advice, and always good to have recommendations for things.I’ll definitely keep this on my possible plugin list and review when go live.
Cheers. Thanks – hadn’t thought of it like that! My thoughts are the only other issues with more plugins are: having more to update (or replace if they aren’t updated and they break something); more to sort out any plugin conflicts for; and as you said, finding quality plugins that are kept up to date in the first case.
I’ve checked out your plugin, which certainly looks an option once we’re ready to go live.

In reply to: [BuddyPress Registration Groups] Group Label appears below checkboxHi there,
great little plugin as it removes the hassle for newbie members of working out how to join a group – BUT, as stated above, the layout on the registration form isn’t ideal. Just needs to be beside the check-boxes please, instead of below.
Any chance of you taking a look at this soon?
Many thanks.Definitely something I’d need too, but don’t want to clog up my w/p site with extra plugins – any idea of the timescale for this development yet? And when it’s out will it be in both s2m versions?
many thanks.
