Short urls are good.. I say as long as the topic shows, then your SEO is good for that term (the title). The only concern I would have is if the current pages have already been indexed with the cat url’s.. if so, you can go ahead and perform the change, but i would definitely perform 301 redirects to maintain any existing rankings that you have.

Did you perform 301 redirects from all of your original indexed urls, to the new ones created by WP? If not, you did just start over.
If you haven’t there is still time to save it, as long as some of your old pages are still indexed.
I see you have all your meta data, and canonicls set.. so redirecting your old pages, to the newer ones (hopefully with the same content where applicable), is all I can think of.
