    I am a new user of wordpress and have been trying to get a basic site build using a free Arras theme. When I switched to WordPress I lost my SEO organic ranking. Can someone please help determine if I am doing something wrong with the SEO plug in? Is the arras template not the best for SEO? I am working on getting more content to the site and more external links, should I look into purchasing a theme? My site is http://www.peterswatchrepair.com. Thank you!

    Did you perform 301 redirects from all of your original indexed urls, to the new ones created by WP? If not, you did just start over.

    If you haven’t there is still time to save it, as long as some of your old pages are still indexed.

    I see you have all your meta data, and canonicls set.. so redirecting your old pages, to the newer ones (hopefully with the same content where applicable), is all I can think of.

    Wrench – Thank you for your quick reply! I did recently 301 redirect the old indexed urls, but maybe that was too late. Do you have any idea if switching a theme would have an impact on SEO? I am not a programmer, any SEO friendly theme that you would recommend? Does it make sense to buy a commercial theme or does SEO plug in provide all that you need to rank? Any thoughts?
