Right now, the implementation is that if the customer purchased a free shipping product and added non-free shipping products to the cart then the plugin will only remove the free-shipping products from the shipping calculations. So if you use a shipping calculator based on the weight and dimensions, the free-shipping product will not be included.
Other users may want to charge shipping if non-free-shipping was added to the cart which also makes sense.

The plugin usually removes the item from the packages list. This might caused the warning message especially if there were only free shipping items in the cart.

I think this was solved when you contacted us. I hope everything works fine now.For the record: This was caused by another plugin that was splitting the shipping of the Cart items. No issue related to this plugin.
