In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Is not working!Hi @almend,
There could be several reasons for the PDF not appearing on the page:
- A conflict with another plugin or theme element that is preventing the required scripts from loading on the page,
- Incorrect caching set up with is preventing the required scripts from loading on the page,
- Issue with the PDF document itself such as a corrupted or missing PDF document
If you would like to drop us an email at contact@wp-pdf.com with a link to the page or post where you are experiencing the issue and the device/browser combinations in use we’d be happy to give you a hand to resolve the issue and turn this review around.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] error when loading a pdfHi @stlecho,
I have the free version of W3 Total Cache installed on a text environment—version 2.1.8. Under the Browser Cache » General settings, the Remove Query Strings from Static Resources is the 9th checkbox on that section.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Shortcode in textareaHi @harchvertelol,
Forgive me if I misunderstand the question but you are wanting to display the shortcode in your text and not have the PDF viewer displayed (and throwing an error on the “fake” file path, correct?
To do that you can either wrap the shortcode in a
<pre>tag to indicate the output is actually a code snippet and not a shortcode to be rendered, or write the shortcode with the HTML entities. For example:[pdf-embedder url="path-to-pdf" ]- This reply was modified 4 years, 9 months ago by PDFG Support. Reason: coding wrapping hiccup

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Page open in New TabHi @dpcoupon,
With the Premium version of the PDF Embedder plugin, you can open a PDF document in a new tab using attachment pages. Please see: https://wp-pdf.com/kb/auto-generate-a-wordpress-page-to-embed-the-pdf/. It is also possible to open a link from within an embedded PDF to a new tab—again, this does require the Premium version of the PDF Embedder plugin.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Output gets suppressedHi @eddypiv,
The PDF Embedder calculates the required space on the initial page load; if the PDF is embedded in an AJAX-rendered content area, the script “thinks” that the space is “0” and the page load event to calculate isn’t called again to adjust the viewer. Another customer that had a similar issue with a custom theme discovered that if they placed a text break
<br/>after the embedded PDF, the issue was resolved.Alternatively, you could call the JS for the resize after the page load event to have the viewer adjust the sizing accordingly: https://wp-pdf.com/kb/the-viewer-doesnt-display-at-all-or-at-wrong-size-when-inside-a-javascript-based-tab-or-ajax-page-transitions/

Thank you for the feedback, I’ve logged this with the developers to take a look at and improve for a future update.
In the meantime, if you wanted to make a little CSS change to flip the fullscreen arrows icon to a more user-friendly image, please send us an email to contact@wp-pdf.com and I can get you set up with the CSS and image file you will need to change that.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Hiding download button when using PDF Embedder PremiumHi @kervadecg,
Glad to hear that worked for you! A download on/off toggle has been put forward to the developer for a feature improvement of the block editor.😁

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Hiding download button when using PDF Embedder PremiumHi @kervadecg,
For this you will need to use the Classic block instead of the PDF Embedder block. Embed the PDF using the Add Media button and choose the Embed Directly option. This will insert the shortcode in an editable format. Then simply add the download attribute to the shortcode. The final result will look like:
[pdf-embedder url="path-to-pdf.pdf" download="off"]Keep in mind that should the visitor wish, they could still download the PDF by visiting the page source code. The only way to prevent direct access would be with the PDF Embedder Secure that encrypts the document and blocks direct URL access by any means other than the embedded viewer.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Doesn’t workHi @codenaam,
We’re sorry to hear that you are having difficulties with the PDF Embedder plugin and your page builder. The PDF Embedder plugin does work with page builder plugins as well as the Gutenberg editor. When using a theme that has a module based layout builder such as Elementor, WPBakery, etc. you need to use a Text, HTML, Raw Code, or Shortcode module to insert the PDF successfully. Most of these drag and drop editors use their own proprietary method to access the Media Gallery with breaks the automatic shortcode insertion by the PDF Embedder plugin. You will need to add this manually to your content. I would suggest keeping your Media Gallery open in another browser tab for convenience.
- With the layout editor, use a module that supports plain text, raw HTML, or code,
- Manually enter
[pdf-embedder url=" "], - From your Media Gallery tab, select the PDF you want to embed and copy the File URL (triple click to highlight, Ctrl+V / right-click copy),
- Paste the URL into the shortcode,
- Publish the page / post.
This method will add the required shortcode to embed the PDF so that the PDF will be displayed in the viewer on the front end of your site.
If you continue to see an error with the shortcode, we’d be happy to assist you determine the cause. Please feel free to send an email to contact@wp-pdf.com as we may not see messages posted here to respond in a timely fashion.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] How to load pdf at 70% zoom?Hi @okkykrismadi,
That feature is not available in the free version of the plugin; however, both the Premium and Secure versions support additional shortcode attributes including zoom level. Please see: https://wp-pdf.com/premium-instructions/shortcodes/

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Cannot load script at:Hi @whu1,
The PageSpeed Optimization is installed on the server side through your hosting provider. Adjustments need to be made in the hosting account and not through the WP admin.
The error definitely points to the PageSpeed cache being the issue: Cannot load script at: https: /plugins/pdf-embedder/js/pdfjs/pdf-4.6.2.min.js,qver=4.6.2.pagespeed.ce.JWXIrGgm2e.worker.js

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Cannot load script at:Hi @whu1,
The issue is with your Pagespeed caching and not specifically due to the 5.8 update. There are two possible solutions—if the first one does not work for you, then try the second. After each change, make sure that you flush the cache to reload the scripts.
- You should take a look at the hosting configuration for Web Optimisation options that you can activate to optimise the site. I have had other customer that had activated their “One Click Optimisation” which “applies the most popular optimisation filters that should help improve page loading times without risking functionality”. By deactivating the option to Combine JavaScript which “Seeks to reduce the number of HTTP requests made by a browser during page refresh by replacing multiple distinct JavaScript files with a single one” the issue is resolved.
- If you do not have the above interface, you can add “ModPagespeedJsPreserveURLs on” in the config file for PageSpeed to inform the cache not to combine and rewrite the script paths which is causing this error

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Width calculation error with Twenty Twenty-One themeHi @eric3d,
The Twenty Twenty-One theme has a maximum content width of 610px. The way to fix the issue you are having with the responsive CSS conflict is to set the maximum width of the embedded viewer to 610 in the plugin settings. This will prevent the theme’s CSS from overriding the plugin’s calculation to display the embedded document correctly.
I will also submit a ticket to the developers to see they can add a rule to accommodate the odd behaviour from this theme.
