Support » Plugin: PDF Embedder » Doesn’t work

  • It’s that simple. It gives an error with the short code. Maybe because I am working in a page builder and it only works in Gutenberg?

    Hi @codenaam,

We’re sorry to hear that you are having difficulties with the PDF Embedder plugin and your page builder. The PDF Embedder plugin does work with page builder plugins as well as the Gutenberg editor. When using a theme that has a module based layout builder such as Elementor, WPBakery, etc. you need to use a Text, HTML, Raw Code, or Shortcode module to insert the PDF successfully. Most of these drag and drop editors use their own proprietary method to access the Media Gallery with breaks the automatic shortcode insertion by the PDF Embedder plugin. You will need to add this manually to your content. I would suggest keeping your Media Gallery open in another browser tab for convenience.

    1. With the layout editor, use a module that supports plain text, raw HTML, or code,
    2. Manually enter [pdf-embedder url=" "],
    3. From your Media Gallery tab, select the PDF you want to embed and copy the File URL (triple click to highlight, Ctrl+V / right-click copy),
    4. Paste the URL into the shortcode,
    5. Publish the page / post.

This method will add the required shortcode to embed the PDF so that the PDF will be displayed in the viewer on the front end of your site.

If you continue to see an error with the shortcode, we’d be happy to assist you determine the cause. Please feel free to send an email to contact@wp-pdf.com as we may not see messages posted here to respond in a timely fashion.
