  • Hi @irvingbos,

The Google Drive Embedder popup window does have a search field that can be used to search for files within the Drive; however, this is only accessible on the admin side of the site:

    Hi @ep2012 and @mudpimathematics,

Setting an initial zoom level is a paid feature available in both the Premium and Secure versions of the plugin. This can be done using the shortcode attribute zoom=”###” where ### is a number between 20 and 500 (no % symbol). You can also set the zoom level for the full screen mode independently of the zoom level of the default embed with fpzoom=”###”

Sorry to disappoint you but there isn’t a means to set the page position.

    Hi @wahyudev26,

Thank you for your interest in PDF Embedder! I’m sorry to disappoint you but the plugin was only designed for use in the WP PHP environment which is quite different than the Laravel PHP environment. I would recommend that you take a look at the open-sourced PDF.js community as it is very possible that someone has put together something for Laravel.

In reply to: [PDF Embedder] Update

    Hi @ep2012,

We have been working on some updates and these should be coming out very soon. I do want to let you know that the current version of the plugins (free and paid) have been tested successfully on our side to WP 5.8.1 and are stable.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to send an email to contact@wp-pdf.com as we may not see messages posted here to respond in a timely fashion.

    Hi @macpheek,

Sorry for the delay—I do not have a solution as of yet. The issues (both the distorted preview and mobile play button) have been reported to the developers for investigation and possible bug fix. Will keep you posted as I hear back from the devs.

    Hi @macpheek,

Yes, thank you. I have the credentials and am doing some testing. Will follow up via the email.

    Hi @menzah,

Functional hyperlinks are only supported in the paid plugins (PDF Embedder Premium or the PDF Embedder Secure).

How was this document originally created and in which program? The recommended method to creating a PDF with functional links would be to use Microsoft Word. When you save your Word Document, change the default setting FROM .docx TO .doc (Word 97-2003 version) because the newer version of the Word document (.docx) changes the formatting and breaks the links.

Important: make sure that your hyperlink includes the http or https as part of the address or it will not be recognized as a hyperlink by the PDF Embedder scripts.

When you are ready to create the PDF from the Word document, use the Export option rather than the Print option. The Export retains all the formatting, including links, whereas the Print flattens all the formatting breaking the links. This is the process I have done and the hyperlinks work correctly.

The similar process works if you are using Powerpoint (.ppt instead of .pptx) or Excel (.xls instead of .xlsx), or the online service Canva.

On Mac OS, use the Pages App to export the .doc file, then use the Save as PDF and select the “Electronic Distribution” option instead of the “Best for Printing” option.

Please note that hyperlinks will not work if the document is created in LibreOffice.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to send an email to contact@wp-pdf.com as we may not see messages posted here to respond in a timely fashion.

    Hi @ngominhtrungit,

The only way to limit the number of pages that are displayed in the PDF Embedder would be the edit the original document to be displayed to contain only those pages you want to display. For example, if you were selling a book and wanted to provide a single chapter preview, you would need to create a document only containing that chapter and embed that. The rest of the book would be uploaded separately and provided to your customers after they paid.

    Replied via email.

    Hi Bryan,

The PDFs are loaded in chunks to attempt to display content as quickly as possible; however, multiple embeds on a single page or post are going to slow down the overall loading of the page.

One method to improve this would be to use a thumbnail image of the document which is then linked to the embedded PDF on its own attachment page. We have a tutorial on this method here: https://wp-pdf.com/kb/how-best-to-add-multiple-pdfs-to-a-single-page-or-post/

The other method would require a bit of coding and would require you to create an “onClick” method to only load an embedded PDF when a user clicks on the PDF document they want to read.

    Hi @macpheek,

Would you please send us an email to contact [at] wp-glogin [dot] com so we can arrange to get some login credentials for your client’s site and Google Drive for the developers to take a look at this and the preview image issue in the other ticket.

    Hi @macpheek,

The preview image overlay is stretched to fit the embedded space whether it is in portrait or landscape orientation (you can see that the preview is stretched wide on desktop devices). The CSS for this is coming from the video host and not the Google Drive Embedder viewer.

    Hi @kervadecg,

Updates in other areas can sometimes cause a block to suddenly not be recognized by the blocks editor. This isn’t unique to the PDF Embedder block.

One thing you could also try before doing the uninstall/reinstall process is using the try the recovery method described in this tutorial: How to Recover a Broken Block

PS: I did send an email reply via our support channel to you on September 22nd—this may have ended up in your Spam folder.

    Hi @macpheek,

There are a couple of things to check with the videos:

    1. first the permissions set for sharing of the videos. They should be set to “Anyone with the link can view” otherwise the video will be unplayable to the general public,
    2. next, there are over 200 videos embedded on that single page. Can you please try embedding a single video (with correct permissions set) and see if the issue persists. Due to the extremely high content load required on the page, timeout issues are definitely a possibility here.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to send an email to contact@wp-glogin.com as we may not see messages posted here to respond in a timely fashion.
