Thanks for reaching out @susan4115. The restriction settings you’re referring to are not related to the volunteer management plugin. Are you using another plugin to handle membership or content restriction? If so, those settings are likely related to that plugin.

To answer your first question, yes, all volunteer opportunities are public on the website as long as you put the shortcode ([one_time_volunteer_opps] or [flexible_volunteer_opps]) to display the opportunities list on a regular WordPress page and publish it.

I hope that’s helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I’m sorry you’re running into issues @bpasko. I have a few questions for you:

    1. Are you using the most updated version of the plugin? Right now that would be version 1.3.1
    2. Have you tried switching to the default Twenty Seventeen theme and deactivating all other plugins aside from the volunteer management plugin to see if that helps? Once you do that, please try to add a new opportunity and see if the date is shown correctly.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks.

I’m sorry you’re running into this issue @bpasko. The problem seems to be a conflict between the theme and the volunteer management plugin. It looks like for some reason your theme is using a function called wp_trim_words() which “trims text to a certain number of words and returns the trimmed text.” For some reason, that function is used in your menu to shorten the number of words used for each menu item. I don’t know how comfortable you are with PHP code, but your best bet would be to remove that function from the place where your theme uses it in the menu. That should eliminate the additional “…Find Out More” text.

Let me know how it goes and if you have any other questions.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to add an “I’m Not Sure” option. We decided against this approach to keep the system simpler and more streamlined. It also forces board members to be more decisive and feel more committed if they say they are going to attend.

Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions.

Per the support thread, I’m sorry that the plugin doesn’t work correctly when used in languages other than English. It’s something we’re in the process of working on and have already implemented in our Wired Impact Volunteer Management plugin. We’ll let you know as soon as the changes are live so you can give it a try.

I wish I could give you a timetable, but it depends on the client workload of our programming team. I will make sure to let you know as soon as we have something live for you to test out.

You’re right @thenax. Unfortunately, the date and time pickers don’t work unless you use English formatting. I’m sorry about the inconvenience and obviously this isn’t helpful for someone who is using the plugin in another language. That said, it’s something we’re working on and have already implemented in our Wired Impact Volunteer Management plugin.

Thanks for reaching out @charlie_moreno. Let me try to address each of your comments at a time.

I want to register volunteers but not tied to any opportunity, later create an opportunity or several opportunities and registered volunteers can accept or decline the opportunities

There isn’t currently a way to automatically opt-in volunteers to specific opportunities. Your only option is to send them a link to the opportunity and let them sign up if they’re interested.

…send an email to registered volunteers when I create one opportunity

Once someone fills out the form to sign up or express interest, you can email them and the rest of the individuals that have signed up from the edit screen for each opportunity.

Also, is there a simple way to add more fields to the form? or use another plugin for forms?

You can do this using the template system included in the plugin and the plugin’s hooks, but it does involve a decent amount of coding knowledge. Like you mentioned, I’m happy to reach out if you would like a bid for us to do that. Let me know if that’s the case and I’ll email you at the address you provided.

    Have a good day.

Thanks for reaching out @trishahanke. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to upload your email database to the website, but we really wouldn’t recommend that. Instead, we’d suggest using an email service like MailChimp or Campaign Monitor to do this. The problem with using your website as a tool to email your whole database is that you may end up being marked as spam, which would cause other emails sent from your website to be rejected. Tools like MailChimp and Campaign Monitor are much better at ensuring deliverability of your emails, and of course they also offer the ability for folks to opt out.

I hope that’s helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for reaching out and for your kind words about the plugin. I’m sorry you’re having issues with the confirmation emails. Would you mind installing the Email Log plugin so you can see if WordPress is attempting to send the emails? That will help us determine the cause of the issues and how to move forward.

Thanks for reaching out Jennifer and I’m sorry you’re running into issues. Let me address each separately.

When this plugin is active, I am unable to switch between Visual Editor and Text Editor. When I deactivate this plugin, I can switch every easily between the visual editor and text editor. This is across all posts and pages.

This isn’t something we’re able to replicate on our end which means it’s probably a plugin or theme conflict. A few questions:

    1) Are you using the most updated versions of WordPress and the volunteer management plugin?
    2) Would you mind switching to the default Twenty Seventeen theme and let me know if that fixes the problem?
    3) Would you mind turning off all plugins except for the volunteer management plugin and let me know if that fixes the problem?

Additionally, I can view the opportunity once it is set up but if I add the shortcode to a page it says “Sorry, there are no volunteer opportunities available right now.” http://hansbreakathon.org/get-involved/volunteer/ is the page that the shortcode is on.

Would you mind sending me a link to a specific volunteer opportunity that you’ve published which should be showing up on that page? Also, please make sure that if your opportunities are one-time events, you use the [one_time_volunteer_opps] shortcode and your opportunities take place in the future. If you’re using a flexible opportunity with no set date and time, make sure to use the [flexible_volunteer_opps] shortcode for the page where you want to list the volunteer opportunities.

I hope that’s helpful. I’m looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks a ton @greglfb! A lot of people wouldn’t have taken the time to write back and update their rating. We really appreciate it.
