Bump for this. Spent all night looking around but the only solutions proposed is to re upload everything.
I am also having the same issue since the upgrade. Old images are not showing but new images will show as a featured image. Rather than download, change the name and re-upload every image i’m still searching. Will post here if i get a result.
Ok after a bit of digging i have seen that a few people are having this issue but are not getting anywhere. Is there any way to access the wordpress database from within wordpress?

I have installed it onto a fresh installation of wordpress just incase it was incompatibility with 3.8.1 but it is fine.
