BTW, this happens in both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

I have the same problem, but only in Firefox. In Internet Explorer I can add to my sidebar2.

Doh! I think I figured out my problem. It’s a setting in the Advanced Category Excluder plugin. It was hiding search results for some categories.

So, this is stranger than I initially thought. It doesn’t seem to have anything to do with my custom theme.

As a way to test the theme, I applied the default theme and tried the search. I got the same behavior with the default theme, so it isn’t my theme.

I tried a bunch more searches and have found some that work. I’m entering words directly from post titles into the search field and some are returning the appropriate posts and some just aren’t.

When I use the search function, no matter what I search for, it returns no results. Even if I search for the exact title of a post, I get no results.

Since this is a custom theme, I’m wondering if I’ve left something out somewhere.

I created a copy of my install and started experimenting. I’ve discovered that this problem is actually brought on by the Search Unleashed plugin.

I’ve figured out what’s making this happen and it seems to be a bug in 2.7.

All my posts with long titles and therefore long permalinks are having this problem.

I tested it and the limit is 30 characters in the permalink.

With 30 characters in the permalink everything functions as normal. With 31 characters, you can’t edit the post anymore.

Is there a separate forum for posting bugs? Or someone I could email this to?

Setting permissions for anything on your site to 777 is a bad bad idea. You are making that folder writable by anyone and everyone in the world. Hackers will find that and take over your site.

Now that they’ve already gotten in, they’ll have made back doors in other places to also get in. I suggest you completely delete everything from your website and restore it from a back up that pre-dates your permissions change.

I’ve got a 2.6.3 WordPress install that’s been hacked as well. I’ve got different symptoms though.

My RSS feeds all have the following after the closing rss tag:
vpn Which of course creates an invalid feed.

And a number of suspicious files have shown up in my root WordPress directory. Files named: trex_5.php and 8.php that don’t belong there.

    Desperately need some help here.

Thanks. Because of the back door issue, we’ve rolled back to a previous backup from a few days before we think the attack started. We’ve also temporarily taken down any blogs that were running on the site to prevent the hacker from getting back in.

My plan is to start upgrading all the blogs to 2.6.3 and begin re-posting them to the web server.

Any advice anyone has is greatly appreciated. Just remember to use small words and type slowly. I’m new to this stuff.

    Thanks!

I mean the hacker is still finding their way into my site and is manipulating permissions, deleting folders and posting malicious content.

Are there any other known security vulnerabilities in WP 2.6.2 other than the one mentioned here: http://wordpress.org/development/2008/10/wordpress-263/

Love the podpress 8.8 plugin, but it’s wreaking havoc with my image thumbnails in WP 2.6.2 With the plugin de-activated my blog behaves normally. With the plugin activated here’s the behavior I get:

When editing an old post or writing a new one, I click the “add an image” button on the tool bar.
Upload and image or select one from the gallery.
In the “Size” radio button, select thumbnail or medium
    Click Insert into post.
No matter what radio button I select, I get the full size image in my post.

    I’ve got some more information…

This problem went away when I uninstalled PodPress. So that plugin seems to be the culprit.

I really need image thumbs to work normally and have a podcast associated with my blog.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

By the way, I looked in my uploads folder and the thumbnails seem to be getting created, they’re just not inserting into the posts.

Is there any way to control the player dimensions? I’d like to tweak the width and height of the player, but can’t find where that is set. Thanks!
