In reply to: My first blogYou don’t run your own blog if it’s at .com. “Run your own blog” means that you acquired hosting, installed WP, create/upload themes and/or plugins, etc, which you can’t do at .com.

In reply to: Microsoft Update breaks WordPress? And please — don’t tell me not to use MS Word.
As Samboll already said… you can’t use MS Word or any other rich text editor. You may not want to hear this but it’s the way it is and the way it’s been since before dinosaurs roamed the earth. Why don’t people just write their posts in WordPress? Sigh.

In reply to: I can not open my wp-admin/install.php any pointers please???I think we have a little issue here with terminology because you can’t upload anything to your browser. Sounds to me like you’re trying to open the php file in your browser? You can’t do that. I take it you’re trying to install locally? To install WP locally you need to have something like Xampp installed first. Here’s a link to instructions for doing so.

In reply to: xamppThese are the instructions I followed. Just skip down to #7 since you already have Xampp installed and don’t worry about it saying Windows XP if you’re using something else. I have Vista and it worked fine.
