In reply to: Is WP safe?Have you entered any posts with WP set to ping, as it might be pinging pingomatic (or where ever) with your new posts.
So even if youve not told anyone the address, itll still be out there for spammers to get.

In reply to: Personal feedback and frustrationsYes true, but atleast it allows you to iron out alot of problems quicker and easier than ftping.

In reply to: Personal feedback and frustrationsAnon, I would like to see your site purely on the basis that I like to see what other people have done with WP (plugins, design etc) not some sort of ‘link whoring’. I mean, really!
Anyway, we all, im sure, get frustrated from time to time with WP and Im proud to say I have also gone from knowing no php to next to nothing, so youre not alone Jinsan (oh and that applies to CSS also. I STILL know nothing about mysql).
My ‘method’ of coding for WP is effectively trial and error (lots of error and plenty of trial). I suspect Im not alone in using this system. If I had one recommendation for those playing with WP it would be to do a localhost (on your computer) install of WP and your blog and use that to try tweaks and upgrades BEFORE making it live on the net.

In reply to: nofollow support added?Im happy to admit that I may come round to the idea that nofollow is a good idea but currently Ill just leave it off.
And I think youre right that it is the same as any spam fighting plugin out there – it is up to the user to decide whether or not to implement it. Imagine if WP forced captchas in the comment form by default!

In reply to: nofollow support added?Well, Im on 1.5 so no way I can go back to 1.2. Ill just either hold out till a plugin is available (which really SHOULD be bundled with WP) or if I HAVE to update I guess I shall have to search through the files to find out how to disable it.

In reply to: nofollow support added?Note btw that nofollow only effects pagerank - so the link is still spidered (at least thats what google has said). So if there is good content on there - then google will find it.Ok, this has placated me somewhat I must admit, as Im not too bothered about the page rank issue.
I still feel though that if anything is a 3rd party issue then this is. And if feature bloat is a perceived problem then surely this is just adding to that muddle.
For me its more the point of who has control over what and how I publish something, me or the WP dev team and in this case I think it should default to the ‘plain vanilla’ option of off.
But again, I shall just use a plugin to disable it (did I read that the plugin will come with WP btw?)Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: nofollow support added?i meant ‘cripple’ in a light hearted kind of way, but still IMO the nofollow is a 3rd party thing so it should need a plugin to ENABLE, not DISABLE it. But hey, what do I matter?

In reply to: nofollow support added?nofollow will not stop spammers leaving comment
You see, thats the important point for me. Why should legitimate commenters be penalised because of the odd spam comment which might get through the anti spam net. IMO if someone leaves a comment google should follow the link through as it may well be relevant to the discussion.
Using no follow just feels to me like were moving that line further towards ourselves and laying down for the spammers.
Thats aside from it IMO just being one of Googles ideas and so it should not be in any cms/blog software ‘out of the box’.
But thats just my opinion and if it means that i have to download a plugin and install it to de-cripple my blog then I guess thats what Ill have to do.Forum: Your WordPress
