Hi Shortfry -I did finally get the plugin to work, and the issue ended up being the requirement for SSL. I thought I had a certificate on the site already but turns out it had expired. Once I contacted the hosting service and got the SSL renewed, the plugin started working, and seems to be doing ok now.
That being said, support for this plugin apparently sucks, considering that no one from the development team even acknowledged my question and I had to sort out the problem myself.
Uhg.. ok, thank you very much for the info!
oh, bummer… but thank you for letting me know. Do you mind if I ask what the alternate solution you used was?
I’m having the same problem as mentioned at the top of this thread. It looks like her problem was resolved, but I don’t see the solution posted. Please help. Thank you!

Thanks Richard, I think the issue did start after the most recent update. I’ve tried all combinations of the compatability options and nothing seems to work. I have narrowed it down to which plugin is apprently causing the conflict (Unite Gallery Pro version), but still not sure what to do to resolve the issue between the two…
I’ve sorted it out. In case anyone else is trying to figure this out that URL prefix appears in the file named:
simple-staff-list-shortcode-display.php
…on line 96 of the code.

After taking another look it doesn’t appear that there is any option to password protect a category in version 1.8.2
