In reply to: Changed in a line in the wp-rss2.php file…OK, I have no idea how the database suddenly became usable. WordPress was complaining, last night, that the database was out of date and that I needed to upgrade. Running the upgraded.php, however, returned garbage.
I disabled all the plugins and found mtdewvirus’ Recent Comments plugin to be at fault. I start enabling plugins, one by one. Everything was fine, except nothing showed on my main page. I went to another theme of mine, worked perfectly. Toggled a few plugins on and off, and now the WP-Cut plugin is giving me issues.
I’ve been using both of these plugins constantly for the past few months.. why would they suddenly start doing this when I simply edited the wp-rss2.php file?

In reply to: Change password without access WP-AdminWell, when you create the user in the user panel, you can give them whatever password you want… but the only way to do so outside of the admin controls is to use MySQL, or write a PHP that’ll read and update the database with the passwords you want for each user.
Problem is… I have no idea how to access the MySQL database with PHP.. I’ll look into it though when I have some time this weekend, I do love a challenge.

In reply to: .htaccess blocking people from siteI don’t know the inner works of the .htaccess very well… but it looks like it’s asking you to be a valid-user. Remember, the .htaccess applies to everything on your server.

In reply to: no Theme EditorAre you logging in as the administator? If not, this may be the problem. Try using the administrator account and see if you can get the theme editor then.

In reply to: I lost my login/passwordIf you can get into your database, you should be able to erase the password… I dunno if that would actually give you a blank password or not, though..

In reply to: Making Everything2 Plugin, Have Question…Heh, I know. I’m basing the “no one likes me” thing on the fact that none of my other topics ever get answered either… Oh well, thanks for the help. I’ll look into those. I didn’t know there was a WordPress Hackers mailing list. Thanks.

In reply to: How WP-ADMIN Files automatically updated to small filesYes, that is definitely something with your host. There is no reason for the wordpress admin files to change their file size every week. That’s way too regular, too. Contact your host, maybe they’re doing something that’s screwing up your install?

In reply to: New Plugin: wp-themes-file-managerThis allows you to… move template files between themes? Useful, if you need it.. but I don’t personally see a need… Could someone give me an example of why one might need this? (I’m not trying to be mean, I just don’t understand the plugin)

In reply to: Error establishing a database connection after plugin change?Alright, e-mail sent… Hopefully they can understand it… Darn Turkish based host (nothing against Turks, just that it doesn’t make much sense to have a company that primarily serves American citizens and English speaking people based in Turkey…)..

In reply to: Error establishing a database connection after plugin change?Heh, I was thinking of moving to A Small Orange as of late. I’ve already found a plan that would suit me perfectly. However, I am part of a community-based site, and it would probably cost a lot more to get a plan of equal value (or at least one that can support us) at ASO. Plus, if I leave, I would be fracturing the community… Decisions decisions…

In reply to: Error establishing a database connection after plugin change? Will do… I’ve been meaning to get on their back for some of the recent problems for quite some time, but that will come in a length e-mail after this problem is all sorted out…

In reply to: Error establishing a database connection after plugin change?Ah! It’s not just WordPress! Coppermine gives the following error:
Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !MySQL said: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client
Whoa! I’m scared… What’s really weird is that this was ALL working just the second before. There was no downtime (at least not anytime close to this incident, there was some major downtime earlier, though) that could have caused it… Bah, darn Technolojik!
Edit: Even weirder: The other WordPress installs (version 1.2) still work fine…
Edit2: Old database does not work properly… Still gives the same error…

In reply to: Error establishing a database connection after plugin change?I don’t trust Technolojik to have a backup, they haven’t answered my last three e-mails about various issues, so I doubt they actually do anything…
I do have some older backups, and I should be able to just bring over some of the tables from the current backup, such as posts and comments…
