Thanks for the heads-up on that plugin.. another to steer clear is any plugin that uses Google Translate… I had it running months ago, the first time we started getting serious traffic it took the site down because every user was linking back to google for a “possible” translate…

Depending on what type of server you are using, if you log into your control panel albeit, c-panel, remote desktop, or plesk and attempt to view your site right off your server does it work?
I am not certain what the “tutorial” for transferring sites is, however, you only need to “dump” your database, and then “restore” on your new server with a wordpress blog to have the site come back live…
try doing a “dnslookup” and see what the IP address (or which) is mapped to your domain name…

In reply to: database maxing cpu usage after upgrade to 3.1I am using Google News Plugin without any problems (fyi) and in fact, I have two copies of MySQL running on my server, one one port, and another on a different port, two different “revisions” and have not seen or noticed any problems with any of my sites…

In reply to: .htaccess file is misnames ht.access in permalink fixjust open Notepad ++ and save a file .htaccess in the root of your blog and make it writeable until whatever it is you are trying to install does it thing… then write protect it… I find it kind of unusual for you to NOT have a .htaccess file…
What program are you using to locate it, ftp, or?

In reply to: What average memory usage can I expect with a simple WP site ?I can tell you this much, I have a rather large site (you do realize it depends on the number of entries in the DB as well as, concurrent cgi-processes) using Windows Server 2008 R-2 with two MySQL servers running, one is in conjunction with ZEND CE, the other is stand alone.
Both DB’s fluctuate however, they usually run around 100k to 200k depending on how busy the site gets…
Overall, I have 4 gigs with 4 Xeon cores, and utilize around 1.6 gigs to keep the whole thing alive… (I do run multiple sites, separate installations)
