  • Just guidelines … plugin will be judged on security, sanitizing inputs, etc.

Try installing and activating this plugin. It restores the editor to the one before the update.

Thanks! Works great with the update.

    define( 'WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE', false );

    Put that in wp-config.php

As far as the Admins I have no answer other than to tell them not to.

    Maybe a caching issue.

Settings>Permalinks> click on save and it will generate a new .htaccess file

Hey Duane, I can give you credentials no problem. Just need a couple of days as I’m off to WordCamp Toronto tomorrow and I’m finishing setting the site up on a new Linode instance using Centos Web Panel. Whats the best way to contact you privately?

    Cheers, Glenn

PS Noticed that if I go into different post/pages ..some are stuck on text tab and others on the visual tab, but in both cases you can’t switch between them.

Hi Pippin, I looked in the logs and couldn’t find anything specific to EDD. So I cleared the log and reactivated EDD to capture it again and to my surprise the site works fine again. The only thing I can think of is that I increased the memory size limit in php.ini later on? It’s on a Linode VPS.

    Sorry for your trouble!

I had it installed and saved and working prior to the upgrade. I always check the sites after an upgrade and it was displaying the text across the top of the sites (3 sites) similar to what an admin bar looks like. When I went back to the plugin settings the errant characters and quotes where there. I wonder if the database upgrade added them.

    Forum: Fixing WordPress
    In reply to: Different browsers

Hi Suzy, Did you ever find a fix for this issue?

Ok well did you have any caching plugins on the sites? Some of them write stuff into the .htaccess files, and wp-config.php. Even if you deactivate the plugin it might be serving a cached page. Look in the wp-content folder for any folders called cache, also look in the uploads folder. Are both sites on the same hosting provider?

Check for error_log in your wordpress folder as well. It often helps in figuring out whats causing the server error.

Ok that’s what I thought you might be doing. So the way to get a snapshot of the clients site is to take a copy (export) of the database using myPhpAdmin or a plugin and then overwrite your dev database with the new copy. You will have to edit the database to search and replace the urls from the production one to the dev one. There are tools to do that. https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/

Keep in mind that this will change the active theme and plugins data on your dev site so you’d have to change that back in the admin panel. You will also need the wp-content/uploads folder if there are images attached to the new content which I’m sure there are.

I’d need to know more about what you are “building” but if you are just changing themes and editing template files (hopefully using a child theme) then the above should work. Take a back up first of course.

Another possible solution would be to use a plugin to bulk delete the content on the dev site and re-import it like you did the first time.
