In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] 500 Error When Clicking Add New/EditHi @absolutelyjustine, thanks for the update.
In order to try and isolate the issue, we may need to do a little digging.
Does your hosting provider offer you an option to set up a staging site, which is a copy of your live site, but usually on a slightly different domain name?
If they do, would you be able to install a copy of your live site to the staging site, disable all other plugins but the Seriously Simple ones, as well as revert the theme back to a default theme, then check if the problem persists?
My thinking here is that if you’re using this plugin elsewhere, and it works, then it might be a theme or plugin conflict on this current site.

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] 500 Error When Clicking Add New/EditHi @absolutelyjustine thanks for getting in touch with support.
I notice you said this “but not through the SSP plugin like I normally would.”
Has anything recently updated on your site? In other words, can you remember when it used to work, and if anything was updated since then. It might be a plugin or theme conflict.
At the same time, would you be able to send me the debug output generated by installing this plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/debug-my-site – which will give me an idea of your full WordPress environment.

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] Fatal errorHi @jigneshshah thanks for posting that info.
I note you say that the error happens when editing a page, and I see the page is a list of all your recent podcast episodes.
Can you tell me what you are using to edit this page (Gutenberg, some other page builder, Classic Editor) and how the page is put together.
At the same time, would you be able to send me the debug output generated by installing this plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/debug-my-site – which will give me an idea of your full WordPress environment.

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] WordPress 5.0 Issue?Hi @willie777
We tested the plugin with WordPress 5.0 on both the last release candidate and the official release when it shipped, and have not experienced any issues.
It is possible that this could be a conflict with another plugin or the theme installed on your website.
I know it’s painful, but are you able to set up a copy of your site with WordPress 5.0, one of the default themes (like 2017, or 2019) and just the Seriously Simple Podcasting plugin, to see if the problem persists?

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] Ditto what Jim Gasperini wroteI’ve checked our logs and we last sent a reply to you on 23 November, to which we have not received any response. I am going to reply to you on that ticket now, please let me know if you don’t get my message.
Also, I’ve checked the url of the post you originally sent us the support request about, and the play is working on that post. I will confirm this with you via our official support channels.

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] WordPress Tag for EpisodeI as mentioned in an earlier comment, in version 1.19.10 we released a fix for this. You can see this in action on my podcast – https://wphackercast.com/tag/corey-maass/ it shows an archive of all episodes under the tag “corey-maass”.
If you’re experiencing an 404 error, it is possible there is a plugin or theme conflict. In order to help us resolve this, are you able to disable all other plugins but Seriously Simple Podcasting and use a default theme, to see if the problem persists?
Thanks
Version 1.19.10 of the plugin was released today, which fixes the tags issue. Now when viewing the tag archive, you will see both posts and podcasts.

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] WordPress Tag for Episode@ingejanse no, not at all. You can use either one, I just wanted to know which set up you were using.
@caorongjin that does help thanks. Do you perhaps have a url I can take a look at to see this in action.

In reply to: [Seriously Simple Podcasting] WordPress Tag for EpisodeHello @caorongjin and @ingejanse
I am currently investigating this issue and would like to gather some feedback on how your podcast sites are configured.
1) Have you enabled Posts under the Podcast -> Settings -> General -> Podcast post types setting. Have you enabled any of the other post types available there?
2) When you create a Podcast, do you create it as a Post (Posts -> Add New) or as a Podcast (Podcast -> Add New)Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Thank you.
Hello @vicente94 thanks for your feedback.
These are two very good points. Could I ask you to raise them as separate issues on the plugin’s GitHub repository: https://github.com/TheCraigHewitt/Seriously-Simple-Podcasting/issues
Using the ss_player shortcode only renders the HTML5 player
Ability to control volume in the HTML5 playerThat way we can track them and prioritise development.
Thanks
Hello @vicente94, and thank you for your feedback.
I agree that the plugin was not designed in this way, and it is for this reason that we recently added a new shortcode – [ss_player].
Using this shortcode will allow you to embed the player anywhere inside your podcast (or post, if it is registered as a podcast).
Maybe you would like to try this out and see if it resolves your requirement? If not please let me know and we can dig a little deeper.
Regards
Hi @markusfreise-1, @vicente94 and @fred-flq
In order to properly understand the problem, could I ask this question, is there a specific reason you’re using the podcast_episode shortcode in a post that will also be featured in the feed, instead of simply adding the podcast meta data (file, duration etc) to the podcast enabled post?
My assumption is that you are enabling Posts under the Podcast post types setting for Podcasts?
Thanks
