    Hi,

I updated to wordpress 5.0 last night and this morning I discovered that I can’t add a new podcast page or edit a previous podcast episode. I get a ‘page not found’ error message…

I’m not sure if it is because I updated to wordpress 5.0 or because I updated the plugin as well…should I roll back the plugin or wordpress itself, and to what version?

Please, any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

FYI an update for those who might have a similar problem.

I backed up my website which took a long time (3-4 hours)…after that, I loaded a staging area where I rolled back WordPress to the previous version. When I did that, the podcast plugin app worked again. I was able to add a new post and edit my previous entries. I went ahead and installed a plugin that lets me disable wordpress from automatically updating itself.

I’d recommend that people be careful for now with version 5.0.

    Hi @willie777

We tested the plugin with WordPress 5.0 on both the last release candidate and the official release when it shipped, and have not experienced any issues.

It is possible that this could be a conflict with another plugin or the theme installed on your website.

I know it’s painful, but are you able to set up a copy of your site with WordPress 5.0, one of the default themes (like 2017, or 2019) and just the Seriously Simple Podcasting plugin, to see if the problem persists?

    Hi Willie,

What you’re describing also sounds like it may be related to a Permalinks and Custom Post Type interaction bug that’s pretty well known to WP. If you could please head to Settings -> Permalinks and RE-Save your premalinks settings (don’t need to change the setting, just resave it). That may well do the trick.

Either way please let us know.

    Hi Jonathan and Craig,

Even though I have been fine using the second to last version of wordpress, I went back to try and see if wordpress 5.0 would work. I reloaded it in staging mode.

It turns out the problem was with the plugin Jetpack, which I don’t think I ever used or need (hopefully). Anyway, with it disabled, everything worked fine in WordPress 5.0.

    Thanks for your assistance!
