First, we are very sorry and also thank you for the suggestion. This issue is not in our priority yet so we didn’t take care of it yet. Anyways, I’m going to have a look at it more. The way to add hook is good.
It could be more faster if you know how to fix it and pull request here. https://github.com/prontotools/woocommerce-cart-count-shortcode. We will help on reviewing and approving to make it in our new version.

Could you please provide the shortcode that you’ve added?
Anyway, I’ve tried to add shortcode in my website like this
[cart_button show_items="true" items_in_cart_text="Cart" empty_cart_text="Store"]on my website, it should show one link for cart (if has item in cart) or one link for shop (if no any item in cart).Thank You!

Looks like the Elementor (maybe the free version) doesn’t initialize WooCommerce while you’re editing the page. We’ll do a quick fix very soon.

When you remove our plugin the shortcode will not work anymore,

Thanks for reporting this. This is usually due to a slow connection to your ConnectWise PSA. Can you please confirm that your portal is running smoothly and your Internet connection is normal?
Have you ever gotten the feed page to load faster, or is it just happening sometimes?

@thebestbreadcrumbs, can you try testing out the shortcodes with straight double quotes? If you enter them directly in the WordPress text editor they’ll be correct.
Let us know if that fixes the issue.
