In reply to: Slow loading frequent 404 errors from admin end – tried everything!Yes, I did solve the problem… by moving to a new hosting company. As soon as I did that my site started to load much faster and the 404 error hasn’t appeared once. Clearly the blame lay with the original hosting, though they claimed to have tried everything.
Yay! Seems to be working fine for me too – thanks!
My bad. The files hadn’t been deleted from the server, so from the front end I’m now OK, but installing the development version gives the problems I mentioned in my previous post.
Hello
I deleted version 2.1, uploaded and attempted to activate the development version, but on doing so got this message, which meant I couldn’t do anything at all:
Warning: Illegal offset type in /home/mysite/public_html/wp-content/plugins/advanced-access-manager/application/control/subject.php on line 284
Fatal error: Call to a member function getParam() on a non-object in /home/mysite/public_html/wp-content/plugins/advanced-access-manager/application/control/subject.php on line 90
As I was prevented from accessing the plugins page I had to delete the plugin files through FTP but am still getting the error messages, so the “fix” has, in fact, screwed me up much worse than before because now I can’t even login to the backend of my site and from the front end the same pages are affected with the errors shown above. Help!!!
I’m using WordPress version 3.8.1 (I think it updates itself automatically). Unfortunately the error logs don’t seem to be recording properly as there’s nothing for my main site, only a few lines for my other domain.
In terms of the caching, how do I turn that on? When I click the ConfigPress menu option all that appears is an empty box, no options.
Yep, I’ve got the same problem too. It’s completely screwed up my site’s forum page.
@syrinx32123 No, the developer never got back to me. I rolled back to version 1.9.3 and that caused problems of its own, because the galleries didn’t appear so I had to go through each of my album pages and re-insert the links.
Frankly, after the hours I spent sorting out the redirection problem, then the time I spent sorting out the album links after rolling back, I am very reluctant to upgrade the plugin at all.
Yes, me too. I’ve found that NextGEN has also prevented access to the theme customization page (wp-admin/customize.php), giving a blank screen. Only when I deactivated all my plugins and reactivated each one in turn did I realise it was NextGEN causing this problem and preventing me from uploading/inserting images.
I’d already had massive problems with galleries redirecting to the home page and I found that (non-existent) page IDs were shown, even though each gallery was set not to link to a page. I had to manually go through each of the 165 galleries, set them to link to a page, then go back and remove the link. Only then did the galleries stop redirecting to the home page.
I’ve spent hours and hours trying to get my site back together so I’m going to roll back to an earlier version and will be reluctant to upgrade again.

In reply to: Slow loading frequent 404 errors from admin end – tried everything!I’d tried a page load testing site but not the one you recommended, YPyogi. GTMetrix has been really useful and I’ve used it to minify various CSS files, so thanks for that suggestion.
Peter_L – thanks to you too. I asked my hosting company about the poor results that seemed to be coming from their end and they suggested adding lines to the .htaccess file for “leverage browser caching” and that seems to have helped with page load times.
I couldn’t find anything within my WordPress settings where my site URL was shown without the “www” so I used the Search and Replace plugin and it changed a few instances for me.
The woo-layout-css thing really has me stumped. It looks like it’s having a massive effect on load times, yet I’ve not been able to find anything within the theme files that corresponds with it. Clicking the link in GTMetrix just brings up about half a dozen lines of CSS. I tried Googling, but didn’t come up with an answer.
The error you picked up in http://www.leevalleylions.org.uk isn’t for me to worry about as that’s the junior team site, run by someone else.

In reply to: Slow loading frequent 404 errors from admin end – tried everything!I’ve updated to 2.0.11 and the problem is still here for me. One page with a link to several galleries still works correctly, but all of the others redirect to the home page: http://www.leevalleylions.co.uk/photos/
