  • Yes, same issue here. I’m using WP 3.6 and NextGEN 2.0.17.

With nextGEN activated the media gallery isn’t showing images and the media-uploader doesn’t work. The classic uploader does work by the way. But it’s hard to insert images into posts without a functional media-gallery.

Temporarily deactivating NextGEN does the trick and allows you to manage media as normal.

I’ve rolled back to NextGEN 2.0.0, which gets rid of the issue altogether. Info on rolling back here: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/.

I’m using a bunch of other plugins, but currently no time to switch them all off and do more elaborate testing.

I’m using a customised version of the TwentyEleven theme.

    Hope this helps…

Yes, me too. I’ve found that NextGEN has also prevented access to the theme customization page (wp-admin/customize.php), giving a blank screen. Only when I deactivated all my plugins and reactivated each one in turn did I realise it was NextGEN causing this problem and preventing me from uploading/inserting images.

I’d already had massive problems with galleries redirecting to the home page and I found that (non-existent) page IDs were shown, even though each gallery was set not to link to a page. I had to manually go through each of the 165 galleries, set them to link to a page, then go back and remove the link. Only then did the galleries stop redirecting to the home page.

I’ve spent hours and hours trying to get my site back together so I’m going to roll back to an earlier version and will be reluctant to upgrade again.

@poorlittlefish any luck resolving this yet?

We have exactly the same problem…….. Let´s hope for a fix soon!

@syrinx32123 No, the developer never got back to me. I rolled back to version 1.9.3 and that caused problems of its own, because the galleries didn’t appear so I had to go through each of my album pages and re-insert the links.

Frankly, after the hours I spent sorting out the redirection problem, then the time I spent sorting out the album links after rolling back, I am very reluctant to upgrade the plugin at all.

Fitting that when I click the link to get instructions to rollback a version, I get “Error establishing a database connection.” What’d they do, install NextGen gallery and bork the site? 😉

@poorlittlefish – Sorry for all of the inconveniences you have had but thank you very much for your time and providing the feedback on linking and then removing the link to sort out your re-direct issue.

@yesterdish – We were aware of the service issue and had our hosting service fix it immediately, please feel free to visit the site now.
