In reply to: [Simply Exclude] Problems since new WordPress 3.7.@wonderful Wanderings,
Then sounds like you are all set. Handling the widget filtering is not the strength of the Simply Exclude plugin. As there are many dozen (if not more) category widgets they may or may not be able to be filtered by Simply Exclude.

In reply to: [Simply Exclude] Problems since new WordPress 3.7.@wonderful Wanderings,
Have you actually tried the SimplyExclude plugin on your WP install? The plugin does work all the way up to WP 3.8.1. A lot of the reported issues are due to theme related issues where the theme is overriding the default query used internally by WordPress. The Thesis theme is terrible in this request.

In reply to: [Simply Exclude] User permissionsI’m afraid that is limited to users who have the ‘manage_options’ role capability. By default admin users have this capability which lets then do things like activate plugins. The Simply Exclude options on the Taxonomy listing follow this logic.
So best advice is install a Role Manager plugin. You can find plenty here on wordpress.org. Then for the needed role ‘redactor’ you would enable the ‘manage_options’ role capability.

Feel free to give the beta a test. See the readme.txt notes for version 3.2 on using forcing the use of WP_Query vs legacy logic. Also some improvements in the Roles Capability menu.

In reply to: [Media Tags] No tags for featured image selection?NES – Native English,
A lot of this is also frustration on my development end. In WP 3.5 they rewrote the Media system with the new popup. In the old system there were dozens of places I could hook into to add fields where I needed then. But in 3.5 this was all removed and replace with new JS only logic. So now there is less ability to add Media-Tags fields where you want to see them.
WP core is supposed to be working on adding much of the add_filter() add_action() function logic into JS. Which will be a nightmare.

In reply to: [Media Tags] media library selection "no tags"@andreas Walter,
Yeah, agreed would be nice. But WordPress really does not support that logic. Just like you don’t have an option to show all Posts which do not have a post tag. Similar with Media-Tags since it uses the same basic Taxonomy system.
But will see what I can add custom in future versions. Thanks for the suggestion.

In reply to: [Simply Exclude] which exclude a category from the main pageWas?? You make that statement like it ceased to exist. The simply exclude plugin still functions very well.
Do you force admin access to SSL, or just login?
Neither. The plugin follows the standard WordPress plugins method of enqueing JS/CSS using the wp_enqueue_style() and wp_enqueue_script() function. This lets WordPress manipulate the http:// or https:// as needed.
Below are screenshots from my own Media > Library page in wp-admin. Showing the proper https:// prefix on all the Media-tags loaded assets.

http://screencast.com/t/KRG1ipAY5Can you provide any details as to which of the Media-Tags assets are causing issue? And on what page you are seeing these issues reported in your browser? You have not provided any specific details so really I’m at a loss at to why you are having issues.
I run Media-Tags on my own admin are under SSL and have not seen any reported errors.
The inclusion of the media-tags css, mediatags_style_admin.css, is throwing a js error
And I’m not sure from your description. How can loading the CSS effect JS? Have you checked the HTML source? Is the URL for the media-tags assets being loaded as https:// or http://
Are you running any plugins that help enforce https://

In reply to: [Media Tags] Speeding up Media Tags with WP_QueryYeah, I had started working on converting that old get_posts code to using the more modern WP_Query. You have to remember that part of Media-Tags was written long before WP_Query came along.
Somehow I lost track of where I left off. But yeah this is coming. I agree Media-Tags needs some updates. Thanks for the input and for sharing the code for others.

In reply to: [Simply Exclude] Post not hidden in 'next/previous post' navigation@wonderful Wanderings,
Not what I meant. Sorry when I first read your post I thought you were talking about the menus. As in Appearance > Menus. Reading it again after some sleep. You are having trouble with the Prev/Next links on your home page or archive. Correct?
What theme are you using? Generally the Simply Exclude will work correctly with the default theme. But I’ve seen reports were Thesis and some other themes don’t follow the same logic.

In reply to: [Simply Exclude] Post not hidden in 'next/previous post' navigation@wonderful Wanderings,
The main function of the plugin is to allow hiding of posts within certain common pages of the site like hide posts from a certain category or post tag on the home page, or RSS. The menu system is different in that it doesn’t really run the same form of query as the main page loop.
But will look into it to see if I can find a way in the next release. Thanks.
