In reply to: How to Remove Meta Data on One PostWell Aaron, take a look at your handywork. Thanks a million. Absolutely above and beyond.
I know I’m not the only one, users can be really anal about little things on their front page.
I will still thoroughly review your video to see if I can learn it that way too. Hope it stays up for a few days.

In reply to: How to Remove Meta Data on One PostThat’s easy. Done. That alone didn’t seem to change the appearance.
An oddity here is that with no title and I removed “without comments” thing that this theme creates, you can’t get to this post unless you have admin privileges… it is “post=2446.” Maybe you can see it through another way.

In reply to: How to Remove Meta Data on One PostOK, I’m going to be greedy. Aaron, if you can do the above–I searched the forum, this and similar issues have been asked but to my knowledge never answered–this one is going to be really easy.
I like this theme but the posts need images in my view. When inserting an image the text doesn’t wrap around it properly–there is no spacing and it is nearly impossible to try and add spaces manually. (The appearance of my previous theme was lost.) Is this a theme-based thing or is there a more general fix? Is there a way to control or set it? Even a plug-in?
Thank you.

In reply to: How to Remove Meta Data on One PostWow. I mean wow. Thank you Aaron for creating a narrated video with the solution. I hope someone is paying you or you will soon create a business around doing this. What a set-up you have to be able to do this!
No, I didn’t get it. But I’ve been doing this for around ten years and feel confident that if I watch it a hundred more times I’ll pick it up.
And it seems like you were using my real site files? That I don’t get. Also, I didn’t quite follow what file you were editing.
My response was going to be let me see if others have suggestions… Another might have been how can I tell good advice from bad advice here? (FYI, I have seen others advise to go into the database–I think for this issue or something very similar.) But you did it, and showed me, and it works.
Finally, I’ll add, yes, I have had WordPress blogs for a while. The newer releases are huge improvements.
Video responses are cool.

In reply to: How to Remove Meta Data on One PostYes, it is the sticky post. Don’t follow how to do this to the theme but I’ll research and try and…

In reply to: How to Remove Meta Data on One PostThanks. Yes, I played around with that. That will remove it on all posts. I think the blog will look weird with that. Actually, I’d also like to keep the line and shading of the meta area.
I’ve been looking through the database trying to find the meta fields for the one post and delete them but am getting nowhere…

In reply to: Can’t Log-In…NEED HELP!Can anyone please tell me how to get it to work again WITHOUT putting these two lines in the wp-config file?
I had the same problem as above when fooling around with the settings. The fix just above did it, so at least I could log in, but I am trying to make the link at the top of the Kubrick/default be for my homepage but the blog is contained in and named for its own folder.
Thanks.

P.S. I guess I’ll have to post this elsewhere. Like many, I have widened the default theme–but I want to keep the grey sidebar. Can’t seem to do it. I really don’t care about the sidebar on all pages. (Here’s the theme I’m using; http://www.cenolan.com/2008/11/wordpress-default-theme-1024-wide/comment-page-1/)

In reply to: 2.5 No longer sending comment email notificationI hope this isn’t marked as “resolved.”
I installed WordPress about 3 years ago and still have an old version–2.04-something I believe (www.theResearchSource.net/columns/). One reason I didn’t do much with it was the constant spam. When the e-mail notices stopped arriving I thought it had stopped. Recently I piced WP again and may want to use it… I was shocked to find some 1,500 comments awaiting moderation. The spam plug-in really helped… Anyway, the e-mail notifications have stopped–I don’t know if I want them for each instance of spam–and this latest plug-in fix says it doesn’t work with my earlier version. I’ve had some problems and dread upgrading (should I? One thing that really bothered me is an inability to have comments on “pages”–now I know the solution to that. At least I know the bugs in the one I have…) So my e-mail notifications don’t work and, in searching this forum, I don’t have a clue as to how to fix it.

In reply to: Where Are The WordPress Pages??Nevermind. It works. At least I can be sure nobody else posted it and I missed it. I put WP in its own directory, where I wanted it anyway, and that may have helped given what I was trying to do. Most importantly, it seems I failed to ftp the “Index” php file.

In reply to: People should search moreYou know what would really help? If, after folks solve their problem, which most seemingly do, they’d come back to the forum and put a short post on here explaining how they did it.
So if anyone can help me I promise to do this!!
And I’ll say this too… virtually all of the helpers on this forum are pretty darn friendly and patient with us newbies. And they’re not affiliated with WP and have almost nothing to gain. Perhaps I missed it but I haven’t seen a whole lot of support from the creator(s) of WP here.

In reply to: Where Are The WordPress Pages??Thank you, Tom. Correct–I’m not using permalinks (yet) as I don’t care about that until I get it working. As I said, I’ve got everything in the root directory. If I leave the “blog address” in options to my homepage (www.theResearchSource.net) it goes there with no WP input at all; if I change this to something else (e.g., http://www.theResearchSource.net/columns) I get blanks or “Page Not Found”.
I tried the /index.php/ thing and that didn’t help. In one post I saw the person seemed to be having a similar problem and they put WP in its own directory and that solved it. I’m going to try that.
Does anyone know of similar blog and comments sotware? All I’m trying to do is have comments on the writing on my website. Most of the comments here are over my head and I’m wondering if WP is for me. Thanks.
And Tom, I did look at your site (believe me, I have searched and looked at EVERYONE’s site) and maybe I should hire you to solve my WP problems… and, RE the smuggling of rare birds, maybe someone could smuggle some deer and elk OUT of Colorado!

In reply to: Where Are The WordPress Pages??Sorry, I now see that this is a repeat problem discussed elsewhere and is apparently related to .htaccess and Permalinks. I still don’t know what the solution is.
Funny that I’ve seen several posts from folks asking “What do I do?” and I’ve checked their sites and they seem to have solved it…

In reply to: Where Are The WordPress Pages??Thanks. Perhaps my description was bad– That’s the problem, when I click on View I receive error/Page Not Found. This is the same for several pages and posts I’ve created. Yes, I can see the page ID but the page is missing. Can’t really say I was looking for HTML, just something!
I haven’t really gotten to Permalinks in my education but I’ll look into that. According to this (http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks) it seems that with v1.5 it should happen on its own.
