Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: [5.1.0] Gutenberg paragraph blocks not wrapped in p tagsFYI I installed the Classic Editor plugin, and I am able to create new posts that have proper paragraphs. However, I’d like to stick with the Gutenberg interface, since I’ve grown accustomed to that ever since it was pre-5.0. I’m hoping the next Gutenberg update fixes whatever issue cropped up. Please and thank you, WordPress team!
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: HTTP 500 on setup-config.php?step=2Okay, so the issue turned out to be:
1. My web host (Arvixe) uses WebsitePanel as their Control Panel tool
2. WebsitePanel apparently limits password length for MySQL database user accounts. I was using a 128-bit password, and had to resort to a 38-bit password instead.
3. WordPress fails to do appropriate error checking / handling for invalid database logins.
4. Hours of my time are wasted.Cheers,

In reply to: HTTP 500 on setup-config.php?step=2I just deleted the entire contents of the wwwroot directory and re-uploaded WordPress 4.1.1. I’m still getting the exact same behavior as soon as I get to “step 2.”
Next, I’m going to try deleting the website and re-creating it on the web host’s Control Panel.

In reply to: HTTP 500 on setup-config.php?step=2Duncan,
Thanks for registering and responding! That didn’t really seem to have an effect on the resulting error in Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1. I even disabled “friendly HTTP error messages” in IE.
Any thoughts?

In reply to: [JP Markdown] Backslashes in code blocks are consumed on every saveI am also having this problem, however I am on WordPress 4.0. Every time you save a WordPress post, the backslashes are destroyed. Now I have to go back and fix all of my posts. 🙁
Please fix if possible. Thanks for the great plug-in.
Cheers,

My WebsiteForum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Failed to connect to FTP ServerI have this problem with GoDaddy as well … it would be nice if someone could shed some light on this. I manually installed WordPress on GoDaddy’s Windows (IIS 7) shared hosting service. I am able to use FileZilla to manually upload plug-ins, themes, and so on, but the automatic install / upgrade doesn’t work.
What gives?
Cheers,
