Hello!
This typically happens when the plugin files are cached and some old files are still being used after updating the plugin. Sometimes this causes temporary errors that resolve themselves once the cache has been cleared.
Btw, we’ve already released version 15.6.2 of Yoast SEO. Please update your plugin. Also, make sure that your WordPress and other plugins are up-to-date.
If you haven’t done the “SEO Data Optimization” in the past, that notice is expected to show up. No, it will not change the XML sitemap generated by the plugin.
For the health and safety of your site, we always recommend creating regular backups of your site and database.
Hello Ramanan!
We understand you found the notifications not useful. Just to verify, are you referring to the notifications under SEO > General or the notification badge in the WordPress top toolbar?
We believe that all of the notifications you receive, whether it’s about a new plugin update or release, or if there’s something on your website that needs your attention, are important and would add value so you can continue to optimize your website. Of course, you can always click on the ‘eye’ icon in the WordPress dashboard to hide the notification.
You can, however, disable the notifications from the Yoast SEO plugin from the admin bar. To learn more about how to do that, please refer here.
Posted in wrong location. Closing.
Hi Mark!
Sorry for the confusion. If you haven’t done the “SEO Data Optimization” yet, that notice is also expected to show up. Can you please run that and see if it resolves the issue? Please note that if you have a large site, the process can take a while. If that’s the case for you, might as well let the plugin do the processing in the background (lazy indexing). If you don’t run that, the plugin will still process the optimization slowly as your content gets traffic. So you just have to wait and no action needed on your part.
@snoffel, we recommend you update WordPress to the latest version first.

All our premium plugins, including Yoast SEO Premium, have to be renewed every year but we do provide renewal discounts. Currently, the renewal discount is 25% off the published rate.
If you choose not to renew your subscription after a year, the plugin will still work, but you’ll no longer receive plugin updates and support from us. That being said, the plugin is yours and you can use it for as long as you want. However, we could not say if it will work forever without updates, as this depends on a number of factors including updates to WordPress core, other plugins, and themes.
Hello!
Sorry for the trouble. First of all, can you please make sure you’re running the latest version of WordPress (5.6), Yoast SEO (15.5), and the latest version of your theme and ALL other plugins?
Hello!
Sorry for the trouble. This issue typically occurs when the plugin installation or update couldn’t complete correctly. Can you please remove the plugin directly from your site and reinstall it manually by uploading the plugin files via FTP? All your settings are saved in the database so even if you remove the plugin and install it again, your settings are safe.
Let us know the result.
Hello!
That feature has long been removed from the plugin. It was removed in version 7.0. The latest version is 15.5.
Regarding your issue, before we check further, can you please make sure you’re running the latest version of WordPress, theme, and ALL plugins?
Hello!
Sorry you’re having trouble using the Yoast SEO Premium plugin together with WP Multilang.
First of all, since you’re running Yoast SEO Premium, you’re eligible for premium support so for any issues you encounter with the plugin, you can email us at support@yoast.com.
Regarding your concern, upon reviewing the available integrations for WP Multilang here (look for “wpm_integrations_init”), they offer integration for Yoast SEO free but not for Yoast SEO Premium. If they offered integration for Yoast SEO Premium, we would expect to see a second line referencing ‘wordpress-seo-premium’ as that is how they defined the available integration for Advanced Custom Fields free and pro versions.
Unfortunately, the best advice we can provide is to contact WP Multilang and request integration with Yoast SEO Premium as this is something they must define in their available integration code.
Hello @krama757!
Can you please make sure as well that your Yoast SEO (15.5), theme, and ALL other plugins are updated?
If everything’s updated on your end, can you please deactivate the text link counter feature, clear your cache (server, plugin, etc), and reactivate the text link counter again? You can deactivate/reactivate the text link counter functionality under SEO > General > Features tab.
Hello @malhyp9!
Just to verify, are you trying to use the Ryte indexability check? Also, can you please confirm if your server meets the minimum plugin requirements?
You’re welcome. 🙂
Hello @claxroma!
It appears that W3 Total Cache is caching your sitemap. Please add an exclusion for the sitemap files. You may refer to this article: https://yoast.com/help/exclude-sitemaps-from-cache/
