the only way you can use shortcodes with Organize Series is if you have the shortcodes addon purchased via organizeseries.com … What shortcodes are you referring to?
thanks for reporting this (and for the kind words about Organize Series). I’ve got this added to our ticket tracker and we’ll look into it and if we can confirm it put in a fix for the next release. It sounds like we just have to remove the add series form if the user doesn’t have the ability to create a series.
thanks for posting back here.
Hi David. Thanks for the purchase.. we’ll continue the conversation over here -> http://organizeseries.com/forums. You can log in on organizeseries.com/downloads (via the widget in the sidebar) and then visit the forums and you’ll be able to post in there. I’ll give further instructions once you’ve posted in the premium support forums there.
The next place I’d check would be the archive templates. This is the kind of thing that I help resolve for customers who have purchased the Basic Support package at organizeseries.com. Sorry David, but that’s the limit of the free support I can give.
Looks like there may be a conflict with another plugin you have active. You can try deactivating all your plugins and just enable Organize Series. Then activate them one by one until you find which one is causing the conflict.
I haven’t seen this behaviour on any of the 10+ sites I maintain that have Organize Series installed.
There are a number of things you can do to try and track down the problem:
1. Verify you have PHP 5.2+ installed on your server. Organize Series requires it.
2. Try temporarily deactivating your theme (yes even though it’s happening in the admin) and activating the default 2011 WordPress theme. If everything works well after that you ‘ll know there is a conflict with your theme.
3. If you still have problems after the above, try deactivating all your plugins except for Organize Series and see if you still get the problems. If you don’t then you have another plugin creating a conflict.
4. You can also try enabling WP_DEBUG to see if it shows any errors.thanks for posting your fix.
zak start looking at any other differences between your localhost setup and remote. I see you deactivated all other plugins, are the themes the same too?
I don’t *think* it’s an incompatibility between versions as your remote host is using the minimum PHP version.
You also may want to try turning on WP_Debug and take a look at your javascript console as well, to see if there are any errors showing up on your remote host vs. your localhost as that could provide clues for what’s going on.
I’m unable to reproduce this on any of my test beds at this point so that’s all I can help you with for now.
Glad it’s fixed 🙂
That is definitely a weird bug… I can’t reproduce on any of my installs. Do you have any other plugins active that utilize the WordPress taxonomy system? Or maybe does your theme does things with the WordPress taxonomy system?
It sounds like a theme/plugin conflict happening here. At any rate, in your specific case I consider this resolved b/c you have a workaround. If you want to do more investigation to try and figure out the cause I would suggest doing the following (all the steps below are just temporary to troubleshoot):
1. Switch to the default twenty-eleven theme that ships with WordPress. Are you able to reproduce? If yes, then you know it’s not a theme issue. If no, then you know it’s your theme causing the confict – no further steps necessary – just let me know the theme.
2. Deactivate all your plugins except for Organize Series. Are you able to reproduce the issue? If no, then one by one activate the other plugins and try to reproduce the issue. Once you discover the plugin that causes the conflict let me know.
If you do investigate this further and find out if it’s either a theme or plugin conflict let me know and I’ll take a gander if I get a chance to see if this is something needing fixed on my end.
I’ve tried to duplicate this on two different sites and I’m unable to do so.
Did you upgrade from an earlier version of Organize Series or are you a brand new user?
Are you using the latest version of WordPress? If not, what version are your using?
What version of PHP are you running?
You said:
After some trials I discovered that the empty description causes the serie not to appear
What do you mean by empty description? Empty series description, empty post content?
A couple questions:
1. Are you a brand new user?
2. I’m assuming you’re using the latest version of Organize Series and WordPress?
3. Try visiting your “permalinks” page in your WP-Admin and resaving it. See if that fixes things. If you are using the template function manually and not having the meta strip automatically inserted by Organize Series then you need to remove the %postcontent% token from the seriesmeta template in the options.
Hey pxlar,
You’ve got a support package on organizeseries.com – if you still need help with this question post on the support forums there and I’d be glad to give some suggestions.
