ThanksI have to admit, the above is much too wordy.
Basically the question is:
How to get cartpauj to use ID and user name from another database than wp_users.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: cartpauj messages TO field cannot find valid user in Participants DBForum: Plugins
In reply to: cartpauj messages TO field cannot find valid user in Participants DBSecond pass on the problem
It all works for ID=1, so it is contacting the wp_users table. Will one (or none) of the following solve the problem?
1. direct cartpuaj to participants database instead of to wp_users table.
2. embed new PDB user’s ID and name in a new record in wp_users table.
3. rename the database in wp-config.php to that used by PDB.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: blog running, changed code, now no entry to blogThe problem is solved. I don’t know why I did not do this in the beginning.
I had done the editing of the theme in the blog itself. I undid the changes I had made in the host directories wp-content> themes> functions.php
Thank you very much for the help.Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: blog running, changed code, now no entry to blogHI,
My Host, Yahoo, suggested the following:
“Your blog is located at the URL: http://photaspect.com/blog and is currently resulting in a server 500 error. Fix errors using script logs
http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=content&id=SLN20595&locale=en_US&i=e06v6W5jLYwkokaJiy2MPOanobIC/2unPsrTy2Gv+CU=
A review of the scripts log showed the following error [05-Feb-2015 08:33:14] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /blog/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/functions.php on line 743.
It appears that there may be an issue with the theme you are using. I recommend researching the above error message with WordPress support and use phpmyadmin to resolve the issue.Yahoo automatically installed a second blog (blog1) when the block occurred. I know exactly what I did to cause the error in the functions.php.
Is it possible to reinstall the twentyeleven theme and overwrite the current theme and also my error. My problem is that I cannot get into my blog in order to do that.
Any help would be appreciated.Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: [Stop Spammers Classic] apparent spam – can it be fixedThanks for checking.
I only wonder if a fake email address like allmyanchoves@yahoo.com would make it through, because it is apparent that some of the emails making it through the check are on the face of it spam.
MorganHi,
Thanks. That was fast!
I seem to be missing a step or an understanding on my part. Got the list of registrants, select ‘subscribe’ but did not select any categories since they are meaningless on this blog (everyone should receive notification upon publication of a blog update (about once a month). Selected ‘bulk update categories’ and ‘bulk update format’.
However, There does not appear to be any change in number of registered subscribers to be sent an email under ‘send email’.
What am I missing?

In reply to: comments blocked on blogWill try resetting plugins via PhpMyAdmin.
In the meantime, I am marking it resolved.

In reply to: comments blocked on blogHi esmi,
Yes, I saw it when I read your actual post. Was working off of the email version. I will try it when I am a bit more adventurous.
We’ll see what happens when that occurs.
Thanks for the help,
Also for the speed of the responses. I used WordPress Forums to answer a question about 6 years ago and had to wait a bit longer for a response.

In reply to: comments blocked on blogHi again,
Tried deactivation and activation of all plug-ins, and the switch to default theme. Do not know how to reset the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. On deactivation, received ‘Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage’ on some functions such as Archives and About
But still receive error 404 when attempting to post a comment on all modalities.

In reply to: comments blocked on blogHi esmi,
Thanks for the quick reply.
Checked and everything you mention is correct and operating.
There is nothing in the comment queue.
Tried to make a post myself and received “This is a 404 page.”
Thanks for any further help.
