    Hi,
    Have been inactive for awhile.
Find that the comments for the blog have been turned off.
No comments are coming through or registered.
    Nothing I do reactivates.
    How can I reinstate?
    Thanks

  • To enable comments on future Pages/Posts, check “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in Settings -> Discussion. Then edit each published Page or Post and check “Allow comments” in each case. If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check “Discussion”.

    Hi esmi,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
Checked and everything you mention is correct and operating.
There is nothing in the comment queue.
Tried to make a post myself and received “This is a 404 page.”
    Thanks for any further help.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Hi again,
Tried deactivation and activation of all plug-ins, and the switch to default theme. Do not know how to reset the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin.

On deactivation, received ‘Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage’ on some functions such as Archives and About

But still receive error 404 when attempting to post a comment on all modalities.

Do not know how to reset the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin.

Please see the page at the link I posted above.

    Hi esmi,
Yes, I saw it when I read your actual post. Was working off of the email version. I will try it when I am a bit more adventurous.
We’ll see what happens when that occurs.
    Thanks for the help,
Also for the speed of the responses. I used WordPress Forums to answer a question about 6 years ago and had to wait a bit longer for a response.

Will try resetting plugins via PhpMyAdmin.
In the meantime, I am marking it resolved.
    Thanks
