I see what you did now.

But in order for the feed contents to be displayed automatically as a post in the blog – how do I do that?

Do I have setup a new page and call it news and then use a link like http://micronetmoney.com/wptest/news/

and somehow include it in a new post to get it to display?

also, how often does this run to get new content?

What I am trying to do is set up a feed and get contents that will automatically get added as a new post maybe 2-3 times per week.

After it is setup, then it runs on its own and adds new content as blog posts.

My blogs are all setup on Hostgator

I am unable to answer some of your questions, as I have no idea.

This is a test WP blog where I installed Syndicate Press

    the blog
    http;//micronetmoney.com

    the blog admin info

    http://micronetmoney.com/wptest/wp-admin

    username is wptest
    password is wptest

This is the htaccess file for this blog

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /wptest/
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /wptest/index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

I just added the [sp# feedList=migraine] in a new post and gave the post a title of Syndicate Press and tried it again. This time I got results with a heading of Syndicate Press and then the Medworm feed.

I would appreciate if you can take a look at the setup and see if there is anything I need to do or not do.

Once it is working, I am going to make screenshots of each part as reference so I will know how to use it in the future.

    I really appreciate your help

OK, I added the real xml feed to the RSS feeds. this is the only one there.

    migraine 1|http://www.medworm.com/rss/medicalfeeds/conditions/Migraine.xml
    and saved the settings

I tried adding this [sp# feedList=migraine] as a new post and got a 404 error

Then I tried to add [sp# feedList=migraine] as a new page and still got a 404 error.

    Where am i supposed to put [sp# feedList=migraine] ??

I do not understand what I am doing wrong now after making the changes.

I emailed you back, but apparently you never got it.

I removed all filters, updated the settings

    Nothing

    Tried adding [sp# feedList=all] to a page

This is the first feed tried

    Variation 1
    http://www.medworm.com/rss/search.php?qu=migraines+migraine+headches+headache&kid=51&t=Migraine&f=c&r=Any&o=d

    Variation 2
    http://www.medworm.com/rss/search.php?qu=migraines+migraine+headches

    Variation 3
    http://www.medworm.com/rss/search.php?qu=migraines

This is a totally different feed. The others were deleted before trying this.

    http://www.healthcentral.com/migraine/news-includes/news.xml

    Again, No results were obtained

Any ideas on what is happening?

My blog is now working again with the 3.1.3 upgrade.

    i did the following:
    1. i copied all of my actual posts from the blog to a text file and saved to my pc.

    2. i copied all text from widgets to different text files and saved on my pc.

    3. i copied all text from misc pages to different text files and saved on my pc.

i had everything i needed at this point.

I called my hosting company again.

i told him all of the things i had done/tried.

i gave him permission to get into my cpanel and delete the BLOG. i asked him and he said it was possible that each time i deleted the blog and then recreated it, some files may not have been deleted when i did it.

he did it and made sure there were gone.

then he created a test blog on my domain. he created 2 pages, 2 posts and had the default theme. NO plugins

then he upgraded to 3.1.3 and changed the permalinks from default to custom. he tested it and everything worked.

after i got off the phone, i created the blog again for the umpteenth time.

with the default them, i created 2 misc pages and 2 posts. they all worked. then i did the upgrade and things still were working.

then i changed the permalinks from default to custom and checked things out and everything was still working.

next i changed the default theme to my theme and tested everything. it all was working.

so at this point, i have a new blog with my theme, 2 misc pages and 2 posts and running on 3.3.1

then i began to install my plugins. i did them 1 at a time and after each install/activation, i would load the blog and see if it worked or not. EVERYTHING appears to be working as it is suppose to.

you can essentially do the same thing i did. it may take some time to copy your posts, pages and info from your widgets, but if it resolves the problem, then it is worth the time.

i was on the phone for maybe 20 mins with tech support and then in less than 30 mins, i had the blog recreated and everything added.

    hope this helps

if you would be kind enough to provide where the best source of support is, then by all means, please make us aware if it.

i will have no problem to try and contact them, if there is chance it could expedite a solution.

    (@mickey65)

well i went into my cpanel and deleted my blog. all files were deleted.

created a new blog. no plugins were installed.

used the default theme and did the upgrade. anything other than the default permalinks setting still gives a 404 error and very little works, like when adding new page.

so even a fresh install does not fix the problem.

apparently nobody from wordpress has even seen our messages about the issues. if anyone knows how to actually contact wordpress support, please let us know, so we can make them aware of this.

    (@mickey65)

i have never had any problems with upgrading in the past, but this time the upgrade sure screwed up things.

this morning i totally deleted the blog after copying text info that i had entered in various widgets. also copied my posts to a text file.

recreated a new blog and did the upgrade. default theme, no plugins, just the bare minimum wordpress 3.1.3

as soon as i tried to add a new page and test it, all it did was reload the main blog page. so links to pages do not work. anything other than the default permalinks setting still gives a 404 error.

there is most definitely a problem or problems with this upgrade

    mickey65

    (@mickey65)

sorry, but i dont buy that for a minute. my blog worked perfectly until i upgraded to 3.1.3.

all themes worked, all plugins worked, all links worked, all pages worked. site configs worked, server setup worked.

maybe because you have not had an issue with it, you are just lucky.

there are too many other people who have had problems and all of us cant be doing the same thing wrong.

there is a problem with 3.1.3 and it needs to be addressed by someone who can fix it, so our blogs go back to working properly.

    mickey65

    (@mickey65)

this is really getting to be a pain in the ass.

via cpanel i totally removed my blog. checked via ftp and all files were deleted.

created a new blog and did the upgrade to 3.1.3

at this point no plugins were installed and the default theme was used and guess what, the same problem occurs.

so now i have wasted the time deleting the blog and now i have to recreate it and will still have the same issues.

    mickey65

    (@mickey65)

anyone have any ideas on how to make wordpress tech support aware of our problems with the upgrade?

    mickey65

    (@mickey65)

/%year%/%postname%/ did nothing. problem still exists

    deactivated all plugins

saved new permalink type, reloaded blog
problem still there 4o4 not found, posts dont show
    changed back to default

if i really thought it would do any good, i would take a piece of paper and make a note of how the page looks with my widgets. then copy the code for each widget and save as a text file. then copy my posts to a text file. and after i have everything, delete the blog totally and then create a new blog.

but that is a lot of time and work, if it will not correct the issues.

    mickey65

    (@mickey65)

does anyone from wordpress tech support see our comments about the problems after we have upgraded to 3.1.3?

this really is getting to be a frustrating problem after all the hard work and time we have put into setting up our blogs and trying to make them something special and useful to others.
