HEy @juliearoundtheglobe,
Thanks so much for reaching out to us about this! We’ve noticed this happening as well with Grow Social along with a few other social sharing plugins. As far as we can tell, Grow Social is applying the Pinterest Descriptions as it should but it looks like something has changed with how Pinterest pulls those descriptions on their end.
We’ve reached out to Pinterest for clarification on if something like
data-pin-descriptionsare being deprecated but have yet to receive a concrete answer if that’s the case. As of now, it looks like Pinterest is favoring OpenGraph meta tags set in the post. For example, in the page you sent over above Pinterest is pulling the descriptions from the
og:descriptionmeta tag that is being set by Grow Social. Since we don’t have a way in the non-Pro version to update this, it looks like you’re using Rank Math to set these meta tags. You could go to Grow’s Settings page and under the Misc section toggle on the setting ‘Disable Open Graph Meta Tags’ so that the descriptions are instead pulled from Rank Math.
Hope that helps!
Hey @louisedonnellydavey,
I hope you’re doing well and so sorry for the delay here! Whenever we see the Pinterest button not functioning correctly in Grow Social it is usually the result of some optimizations being done to the JS files.
I took a look at the page you sent over and it looks like the Pinterest button is working normally, but just in case you’re still experiencing any issues I would recommend trying to exclude Grow Social from being optimized within SG Optimizer to see if that does the trick.
If needed, we have a super helpful guide that should help you with this here.
Hey @gapdecaders,
Thanks so much for reaching out for this and so sorry for the delay! I took a look on our side and it looks like you sent us an email about this directly which we were able to resolve.
We’ll go ahead and close this thread here but if you have any issues in the future with the Pro version of the plugin please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly. 🙂
Hey @thervgeeks,
Thanks so much for reaching out to us about this! We don’t have a way within Grow Social to change the subject/body of the email when the email share button is clicked but we have submitted this over to our plugin engineers to have them consider allowing these to be adjusted or use the title of the post as the subject and the Bitly link placed in the body.
I don’t have any eta on if/when this might become a thing in Grow Social but feel free to keep an eye on future updates for this!

In reply to: [Hubbub Lite - Fast, free social sharing and follow buttons] Async/defer CSSHey @lauratraveler,
Thanks so much for reaching out to us about this and so sorry for the delay! In terms of using async/defer for the CSS from Grow Social we don’t have a way within the plugin to apply that within the plugin itself. While we don’t have any recommendations, there are a few plugins out there that should be able to assist with helping you do something like that if you’d wish!
With regards to the CSS files loading on pages that have no social buttons present, would you be able to send over a URL of a page that you’re experiencing this on?
As far as the version numbers go, that’s totally normal and based on the filename of the CSS file you sent over, it does indeed look like you’re running the non-Pro version of the plugin so you should be fine there.
Hey @ecomturbo,
Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention! This is definitely something we’ve noticed on our end as well and we have a planned fix for this to be corrected in our next Grow Social release. 🙂
Hey @nina2813,
Thanks so much for reaching out about this and so sorry for the delay! I had a look at the page you sent over and it looks like Grow’s Pinterest button is being affected by some styles coming from your theme.
If you’d like, feel free to add the following bit of CSS below to the Additional CSS section in WordPress and it should hopefully clear things up for you:
.dpsp-content-wrapper button { margin-top: 0px !important; margin-bottom: 0px !important; }Hope that helps!
Hey Thomas,
Thanks so much for reaching out about this and for the kind words! Since Grow Social’s buttons usually show up in the first screenview on the site it’s a pretty tricky situation to try and get around for render blocking.
Our plugin engineers are always looking into ways to further reduce the impact Grow Social has on a site, but in the meantime you could look into potential optimization/Critical CSS plugins to help take care of this for you.
I don’t have any particular suggestions on what to go with as each site is different, but if you do go this route I would just double check that after the optimizations are done that Grow Social’s buttons are still functioning normally.
Hey Ledaki,
Thanks so much for reaching out about this! I believe you responded in one of the other threads but just in case I’ll go ahead and post what we know about this here.
From what we can tell, it looks like Facebook has made some changes to their Graph API and we’ve seen some posts (but not all) on some sites being returned as 0 instead of the actual engagement/share number.
Grow Social appears to be doing everything correctly with how we’re pulling share counts so the issue seems to stem from something on Facebook’s side of things.
There’s a few issues open with Facebook developers on this and it looks like they’re currently looking into the issue. We don’t have any sort of ETA on when something like this would be fixed since it’s on Facebook’s die of things but we’re hoping they get this taken care of ASAP.
Hey Gus,
Thanks so much for reaching out to us about this and so glad to hear you were able to get the buttons functioning correctly on your site.
With regards to shares, that’s a bit odd if you aren’t seeing ANY share counts return (especially from a network like Pinterest) but as far as Facebook goes we’ve seen some changes occurring with Facebook’s Graph API on their side of things.
As far as we can tell, Grow Social is doing everything correctly with requesting the share counts from Facebook but Facebook is still returning a 0 count for some posts. Since that is the count sent back from Facebook, that’s the count Grow Social will use.
We have seen a few issues already opened with Facebook’s developers and it appears they’re taking a look at those changes so hopefully fixes to that come soon!
As far as Pinterest goes, would you be able to send us an example URL of a post on your site that has been shared to Pinterest but isn’t returning any counts?
Hey everyone,
Thanks so much for reaching out to us about this! I’ve responded to a couple similar threads, but I’ll go ahead and post what we know so far regarding Facebook not returning share counts for the last few weeks.
We’ve noticed over the last couple of weeks that Facebook share counts may return as 0 for some (but usually not all) posts on a site. Since that is the number the Graph API for Facebook is returning, that is the number Grow Social will use when displaying/updating counts for a post on your site.
As far as we can tell, Grow Social is correctly requesting share counts from Facebook’s Graph API but there seems to be some issues with one of Facebook’s more recent updates to it. Whether or not this was an intentional change is hard to say, but issues have been opened with Facebook’s developers to have them take a look into this.
We don’t have any sort of ETA on when something like this would be fixed on Facebook’s side of things but we’re hoping they get this taken care of ASAP.
Similar to Facebook, we also use the service Twitcount to provide shares from Twitter. Since we get the share counts directly from their API, I would recommend reaching out to support@twitcount.com to see if there’s anything going wrong on their end.
Hey @ruisamuel,
Thanks so much for pointing out that error! This shouldn’t actually impact the share counts not being returned from Facebook but the error is something we definitely noticed with our last release.
Just as a quick update, we do have a fix planned to take care of this in our Pro version’s 2.14.2 release. 🙂

In reply to: [Create] Translation with Loco TranslateHey there,
Thanks so much for reaching out to us about this! As far as Loco Translate goes, we have had some folks use this plugin to varying degrees of success when trying to translate Create. It’s not our recommended way to make these translations but if things seem to be working for you currently then I’d say it’s totally fine to keep using it!
Additionally, we typically recommend using a bit of software called PoEdit to make these translations. This is something I, and others using Create, have successfully used in the past so that should work if you run into any issues with Loco Translate.
If you have any additional questions, or issues with this, we’d be more than happy to take a closer look if you want to email us at create@mediavine.com!
Hey Saumya,
Thank you so much for reaching out to us about this! I’m just following up to let you know that I submitted these suggestions as feedback over to our plugin engineers for review and possible consideration for adjusting in a future release.
I don’t quite have an ETA on if/when this will become a thing but we thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about this.
If you notice anything else please don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know!
Have a great day. 🙂
