In reply to: Getting current Post ID ? (out of The Loop)It will work just fine with mod_rewrite permalinks, all mod_rewrite does is map the fancy permalinks to query strings.

In reply to: Importing RSS feeds to existing webpagesUsing .html pages would be tricky, and involve a lot of editing of the code, and having your host set your server to interpret .html files as PHP.
For importing, http://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content#Importing_from_an_RSS_feed
And making .htaccess writable is optional and not needed.

In reply to: PHP Blogging Apps Open to XML-RPC Exploits@ the original thread
WordPress and PHP’s vunerabilities are unreleated. The pear commands given will in no way affect WordPress. The article above is entirely incorrect in listing WordPress as a vunerable software because of the way that PHP handles XMLRPC.
WordPress uses its own builtin XMLRPC server, and it is just coincidence that these vunerabilities were discovered at the same time.

In reply to: [1.5] Incoming Links in Dashboard no Longer DisplaysThis isn’t a problem in WordPress, and really the bug report was unnecessary. Like someone else said earlier, it really depends on if the technorati feeds are showing or not at the time that you visit your admin. Sometimes, the technorati feeds may be down, so instead of showing ugly errors WP just hides it since there’s nothing to display.

In reply to: Quick tags box missing! The quicktags won’t show because you are probably on a browser that doesn’t support them, Safari most likely. img tags need to be self closed, you have to use a /> at the end and not a >.

In reply to: 1.5.12 and ectoecto,
Podz wasn’t the one that needed the tests, it was Matt, and we have a testers and hackers mailing this set up for this, but nobody tested with ecto. Ecto wasn’t blatently ignored, I ensure you, but none of the users stepped up to test it. If you’re interested, perhaps join the WP-Testers mailing list and wait for requests to come up for testing? (I do beleive we could still use some now on the hackers list if you’re so inclined).
